Opera Software Announces the Release of Opera 3.50, the Improved Browser

December 1, 1998 (INB) -- Opera is a name associated with music and culture
but also reflecting perfection and quality. With the release of Opera 3.50
-- Opera Software A/S (http://www.operasoftware.com) comes closer than ever
to meeting these standards. It's size, speed, stability and adherence to
the standards of the industry combine to make Opera 3.50 the new browser of
choice. It is a simple yet distinctive brand name in a world of
'commoditized' names associated with Internet navigation or exploration.

Opera Software was recently recognized with PC World's 'World Class' Award
in the category 'Most Promising Web Newcomer'(see details at
http://www.operasoftware.com/news.html). Opera 3.50 is an advanced
Internet/Intranet/Extranet Browser; it is small, fast, user-friendly and
has low minimum resource requirements. "Opera 3.50 is an important
milestone for our company. It not only shows the superb skill and
dedication of our programmers, but that we are the leading force in
Internet security, standards adherence and customization options, while
keeping the program size to an absolute minimum," says Business Director
and co-founder, Jon von Tetzchner.

In addition, these unique and useful features make Opera 3.50 the browser
of choice for many thousands of users:

o Opera 3.50 now features the most complete CSS1 implementation of all
commercial web browsers. This is enhanced by many customization options for
both users and website designers.

o With Opera 3.50, the most compliant and most recent version of Java is
now supported! As a stepping stone to internal Java support, access to
applets has been made possible by supporting the plugin from Sun
Microsystems.

o Opera 3.50 once again leads the way in Internet security. It is the only
browser to support Transport Layer Security (TLS), the successor of the
Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Opera integrates the latest 128 bit encryption
protocols -- without requiring additional modules.

o Support has also been added for File Upload, which is required for many
web-based e-mail services. An Offline Browser Mode, Name Completion, a
Turbo Mode, the ability to turn off tables, a new Download Window with
multiple functionality, and even wider plugin support are but a few of the
many new characteristics of Opera 3.50.

o Opera 3.50 also allows users to implement their own toolbar icon designs,
allowing for fully individualized versions according to their preferences.

In addition to the launch of the improved browser, Opera is extending its
services to the Internet community by offering free web-based e-mail. Users
can acquire their own OperaMail e-mail address and use this account with
the Opera browser (or any other modern web browser). When using an
OperaMail account, e-mail becomes accessible from all Internet connected
devices without the need for a separate e-mail application. This service
will also greatly contribute to spreading the news of Opera around the
world while at the same time adding convenience and ultimate flexibility to
the user. Acquire an account at (http://www.operamail.com).

Opera is also becoming involved in building a web community with the launch
of PeopleLink, an Instant Messaging application and service
(http://www.peoplelink.com/comnet/operasoftware/). By providing a special
Opera version of this service to its users, it will further enhance the
quality of interaction between users and the company, and enable users to
utilize this service with friends and family, colleagues and customers.
Instant Messaging has become very popular because it provides safe,
real-time communications.
