NETSCAPE OPENS MY NETSCAPE TO MILLIONS OF WEB PUBLISHERS

Netscape Launches the My Netscape Network, Empowers Web Publishers to
Create Channels for Popular My Netscape Personalized Internet Start Page

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (March 15, 1999) Netscape Communications
Corporation (NASDAQ: NSCP) today announced the launch of the My Netscape
Network that will allow Web publishers to create their own custom
channel for Netscapes popular My Netscape personalized Internet start
page service. The My Netscape Network is available on the Netscape
Netcenter portal and, as part of the My Netscape service, enables
consumers to create highly customized Internet start pages with their
choice of Internet content. By participating in the My Netscape
Network, Web publishers can expand their online audience to include the
growing network of millions of My Netscape users and increase repeat
traffic to their Web sites.

The first companies to join the My Netscape Network include Garden.Com
at www.garden.com, JavaWorld at www.javaworld.com, Red Herring at
www.redherring.com, Lanier Travel Guides at www.travelguides.com, Linux
Today www.linuxtoday.com, MacCentral at www.maccentral.com, Salon at
www.salonmagazine.com and more will be available through the My Netscape
channel finder. These companies represent a growing list of hundreds to
thousands of My Netscape Network channels that will be easily accessible
from the Netscape Open Directory, where a user can search for a Web site
and simply click to add it to their My Netscape personalized Internet
start page.

The My Netscape Network is the Webs first open portal service that
empowers consumers to view all the Internet content they want in one
convenient location on the Web all through My Netscape, said Mike
Homer, executive vice president and general manager of Netscapes
Netcenter division. Whether its a free personal email account and
business news from Netscape or gardening information and a favorite
movie site, with My Netscape all the information you need is right at
your fingertips.

The My Netscape Network employs the same open partner model pioneered by
the Netscape Open Directory which, in less than a year since its
creation, has become one of the fastest growing Internet directories in
the world today. In the same way the Netscape Open Directory unleashes
the knowledge and creativity of volunteer editors, the My Netscape
Network will empower anyone to leverage Netscapes personalization
technology to stay in touch with their customers.

The My Netscape Network is built on the RDF Site Summary format (RSS).
RSS is a new, open file format that enables the exchange of content
summaries and e-commerce data between Web sites. By joining the My
Netscape Network, publishers can use RSS to create their own My Netscape
channel. This channel can then be used by the publisher to deliver
frequently updated content to the fast-growing My Netscape audience.
Publishers interested in joining the My Netscape Network can visit
my.netscape.com/publish for details on adding their site content to My
Netscape.

Netscape Netcenter is Netscapes leading portal site that provides users
with a home base on the Internet. From Netcenter, users can navigate
the Internet, access a broad range of consumer and business content and
services and communicate with others online. The site includes eighteen
content channels, a set of leading-edge services including the new
Netscape-branded Search, Netscape Contact, Netscape SmartUpdate,
Software Download, Member Directory, My Netscape personalization service
and WebMail.
