[NPL] NetBarrier 1.0 Released

INTEGO SHIPS NETBARRIER 1.0, THE FIRST PERSONAL SECURITY SOLUTION FOR THE
MAC OS

-- Personal Firewall, Antivandal and Internet Packet Filtering software for
the Mac OS is sophisticated, yet easy to use --

NEW YORK, NY, July 22, 1999 -- at Macworld Expo Booth #587 -- Intego, Inc.
announced today that it is now shipping NetBarrier 1.0, the first personal
security software suite for the Mac OS, including integrated firewall,
antivandal and Internet packet filtering technology. Based on professional
firewall technology used by network administrators, NetBarrier is the first
single-user firewall software for the Mac OS, securing both Internet and
LAN-based traffic directly at the individual computer level, with
intelligent antivandal and Internet packet filtering software for a
complete single-user security solution. Designed for ease of set-up and
use, NetBarrier offers sophisticated security optimized for the Mac OS and
capable of handling AppleTalk. Available today directly from Intego's Web
site (http://www.intego.com/) and at the Macworld Expo in New York,
NetBarrier is normally priced at $149.95 but available for a special
introductory price of only $74.95 through September 30, 1999.

"Between the explosion of fast Internet connections and the number of LANs
in general, the need for security on every single computer has never been
greater," explained Laurent Marteau, CEO of Intego, Inc. "NetBarrier
addresses both Internet connectivity and LAN-based networking to protect
individual Macs under both conditions. In addition to an individual
firewall, NetBarrier also includes sophisticated antivandal technology and
packet filtering software for a complete, all-in-one security solution."

"There is an obvious reason why we decided to install our firewall directly
on the computer," said Marteau. "Different studies have revealed that 80%
of attacks are local area network attacks when, in fact, existing firewalls
are installed on the gateway, leaving the LAN unprotected. This literally
means that users are protected from only 20% of the attacks, which is
totally insufficient! NetBarrier is the only complete, personal Internet
security software for Macintosh which grants an optimal security level for
an affordable price!"

NetBarrier protects an individual's computer from vandals intending to
destroy, alter, change or steal data and information found on the hard
disk. Novice users will find NetBarrier easy to set up and use, with
default settings for the most common user scenarios. Advanced users can
choose from preconfigured rule-sets for custom solutions or invent their
own rule-set for any truly unique situation not already covered.

"Everyone has a right to privacy, but with faster Internet connections and
more networking in general, it's tougher than ever to protect private
information," explained Jean-Paul Florencio, NetBarrier product manager.
"NetBarrier is designed so that all Mac users can quickly set-up their own
complete security solution. At the same time, NetBarrier is sophisticated
enough to protect advanced users with intricate system security needs."

Three Levels of Protection
A complete, individual firewall and much more, NetBarrier incorporates
three key levels of protection for an all-in-one security solution against
the dangers associated with being on a LAN, WAN or the Internet. The three
levels of protection are:

* Personal Firewall -- Installed directly on the computer, the
firewall offers the user total control of all incoming and outgoing data.
The firewall comes with the 5 most common preset allow/deny settings, plus
a custom rules option. Once the rules are set, the firewall protects all
sensitive data and works with the antivandal and packet filtering features
for a complete security solution. Twelve different gauges indicating
traffic levels, bandwidth usage, etc. easily give the user a quick, overall
picture of activity.

* Antivandal -- Sophisticated and intelligent, the antivandal feature
monitors for activity that indicates an intrusion and immediately alerts
the user. If the user is absent at the time of the alert, the antivandal
feature automatically blocks the intruder and places the corresponding IP
address on a Stop List. Some of the antivandal options in NetBarrier
include: refuse unknown protocols, block hostile pings, block port
scanning, limit the number of connections, check passwords, TCP sequence
scrambling, stealth mode.

* Packet Filtering -- Sensitive data, such as credit card numbers and
passwords, can be listed for comparison with any outgoing data packet. Any
data packet containing the user's sensitive data will automatically be
blocked.

System Requirements
NetBarrier can run on any Mac OS-compatible computer with a PowerPC
(including G3) processor, running Mac OS 7.5.5 (or higher) and Open
Transport 1.1 (or higher). There should be a minimum of 16 MB RAM
installed, with 5 MB free hard disk space, Internet Config 1.1 (or higher)
and a minimum screen resolution of 800x600.

Pricing and Availability
NetBarrier 1.0 is available today directly from Intego's Web site at
(http://www.intego.com/) for a special introductory price of $74.95 through
September 30, 1999. NetBarrier is normally priced at $149.95. Macworld Expo
