FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco adds NetInnovators and Consumer Showcase to
Special Interest Environments
MACWORLD Expo also to feature Corporate Buyers Alliance, connecting
exhibitors with corporate buyers
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 18, 1998 MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco 99, Jan. 4 -- 8
at the Moscone Convention Center, will feature two new "Special Interest
Environments" geared to consumers, network administrators, web developers
and gaming aficionados, IDG Expo Management Co., producers of the show,
announced today.
"Net Innovators" and "Consumer Showcase," which includes the Macintosh
Gaming Championship and Exhibits, will appear for the first time on the
show floor alongside other successful and long-running MACWORLD Expo/San
Francisco special interest areas, such as: "Developer Central," the
"Education District," "Business Solutions," "Extensions Workshop for
Creative Content," "Digital Media Studio Featuring QuickTime," and
"Digital Art Gallery."
"The Special Interest Environments have always been a successful platform
which allow attendees to test the increasing number of hot, new tools and
applications and to meet the experts behind those technologies," said Rob
Scheschareg, MACWORLD Expo show director. "We are excited to add the two
new special interest areas -- Net Innovators and Consumer Showcase.
Whether you are a software developer, programmer, Mac professional or
consumer, you will find a specialized area tailored to meet your interests
at MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco."
In addition to the new special interest environments, IDG Expo Management
also announced a new program, the "Corporate Buyers Alliance," which will
allow exhibitors to distinguish corporate buyers from other attendees
walking the show floor by looking for the special Corporate Buyers Alliance
ribbons participants are wearing. Under the program, corporate buyers will
be granted special ribbons to wear while on the show floor and will have
the opportunity to congregate in a special lounge to network with other
members and participating exhibitors. Exhibitors also will receive a
special logo for display on their booth.
"The Corporate Buyers Alliance underscores MACWORLD Expo's prominence as
the leading IT trade show where deals are brokered and contracts signed,"
said Scheschareg. "As we have in years past, we expect a high number of
corporate buyers at MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco. This program is designed
to match up the buyers directly with the sellers."
For Consumers
For the consumer market, The Consumer Showcase, sponsored by Apple, will
focus on entertainment, small office/home office, home learning, music,
design and crafts. This special interest environment builds upon the
successful launch of the iMac computer, and the growing number of new
applications developed for it, used by consumers and small office/home
office workers, among others, in their personal and professional lives.
Just a few short steps away from the Consumer Showcase, The National
Macintosh Gaming Championship and Exhibits produced by Double Exposure and
sponsored by Macworld Magazine, iMacworld, MacCentral and MacSoft will
showcase the latest in gaming titles for the iMac and other Mac products.
The Gaming Exhibits will allow attendees to try out the latest games, speak
with designers and programmers of the latest games and purchase the latest
products at tremendous show discounts.
With over $20,000 in prizes, the National Macintosh Gaming Championship, a
first for MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco, will be played while an audience
watches. The Gaming Championships is new to MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco,
since it premiered at MACWORLD Expo/New York this summer. In order to
participate in the Championships, participants must be registered to attend
MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco. To enter the National Macintosh Gaming
