Announcing LANsurveyor 5.0 with IP Monitoring

LAFAYETTE, CA - April 19th, 1999 - Neon Software announced today the
latest upgrade to LANsurveyor, their network mapping, managing, and
reporting application. LANsurveyor 5.0 adds the ability to query the
network via IP as well as other new features, including folder
distribution, instant messaging and a host of new query abilities.
LANsurveyor 5.0 also features tight integration with Netopia's
Timbuktu screen-sharing application and Neon Software's CyberGauge
Internet bandwidth utility.

LANsurveyor 5.0 autodiscovers both IP and AppleTalk nodes and draws a
network map. From the map, fully customizable template reports can
answer hundreds of questions about hardware and software assets.
LANsurveyor runs on the MacOS and maps and audits up/down status of
any IP or AppleTalk addressable node.

"Even the most dedicated MacOS manager has to contend with
multi-protocol issues of routing IP and mapping Ethernet, IP, and
AppleTalk addresses to individual workstations" said Laurie Abrams,
Director of Sales at Neon Software. "LANsurveyor 5.0 allows a network
administrator to see workstations across their WAN and manage them
from a graphical user interface." said Abrams.

LANsurveyor 5.0 New Features
* Expanded IP Autodiscovery includes Neon Responder, Netopia's Timbuktu,
SNMP and ICMP nodes. LANsurveyor autodiscovery has been substantially
enhanced to map a variety of IP services providing an even more complete
view of your network.
* IP Query capability to the Neon Responder.
The Neon Responder, a small, low-impact MacOS INIT returns hundreds of
software and hardware parameter data and can be queried via both IP and
AppleTalk.
* Tight Integration with Netopia's Timbuktu application.
Launch Timbuktu screen-sharing directly from the LANsurveyor map if it is
installed on the queried node, plus query and report Timbuktu configuration
parameters.
* Tight Integration with CyberGauge, Neon Software's popular Internet Bandwidth
monitoring application, to provide network traffic graphs in real-time.
* Folder Distribution
Distribute folders, as well as files, for quick and efficient software
distribution.
* Instant Messages
Immediate communication via LANsurveyor to all Neon Responder-enabled nodes.
* Additional new features, such as expanded SNMP queries and expanded
Neon Responder security features.
