Something blue, something new, LaCie electron19blue

* High performance "natural flat" tube
* Unique dark blue casing with color- enhancing blue hood (black inside)
* Total of five 5 USB connectors
* Provides 25% bigger viewing area than a typical 17" monitor

Hillsboro, OR (October 22, 1998) - LaCie has unveiled a 19-inch monitor
based on Diamondtron Aperture Grille technology, which offers unequaled
picture sharpness and brightness. The electron19blue monitor, available
exclusively from LaCie, features a unique image-enhancing hood that reduces
reflected light and shadow. The monitor sports a 19" tube and an 18"
diagonal viewing area. This represents 25% more display area than on a
typical 17" monitor.

The LaCie electron19blue monitor features a "naturally flat" CRT; this
means that the screen is flat both vertically and horizontally. This
flatness reduces diminishes eye strain as it reduces the focus- distance
difference between each point of the screen and the user's eyes (fig xx).
It also eliminates the geometric distortion created by the rounded shape of
regular tubes (see attached illustration).(fig xx) By way of comparison,
standard aperture grille monitors are only vertically flat, and standard
shadow mask monitors are rounded both vertically and horizontally. Now you
can see on a flat screen what you print on a flat paper. By way of
comparison, standard aperture grille monitors are only vertically flat and
standard shadow mask monitors are rounded both vertically and
horizontally(fig xx).

The flatness of tThe LaCie electron19blue monitor also reduces light
reflection.(fig xx) Any remaining, uUndesirable reflection and shadow are
reduced to almost nothing by the addition of the LaCie color-enhancing
hood. The LaCie monitor hood is dark blue with a light- absorbing black
interiorside to reducethat reduces the effects of surrounding light on the
monitor itself(fig xx).

" If you do not Unless you work inside a bunker with no windows, the way
you see the colors of your monitor changes with the outside light. At LaCie
we have found two solutions : live in an area like Oregon where the sky is
uniformly gray, or use the LaCie electron19blue to take advantage of with a
more consistent light in front of the monitor, thanks to the use of its
unique hood. The choice is yours," says Luc Brunet, LaCie's Color Product
Manager.

Scott Philips, LaCie's VP of sales and marketing adds,: " tThe new LaCie
electron19blue monitor is perfect for prepress and graphics professionals
for whom a 17-inch" monitor is too small and a 21-inch " monitor is too
expensive."

The LaCie electron19blue monitor will bewill be fully compatible with the
LaCie blue eye. LaCie blue eye is a hardware monitor calibrator device to
be released in the first quarter of 19Q1 99 by LaCie. LaCie blue eye
adjusts each gun inside the monitor prior to creating PhotoshopPhotoShop or
