WAVE RESEARCH ANNOUNCES FILEWAVE SUPPORT
FOR OPEN TRANSPORT AND INTERNET PROTOCOL

FileWave 3.2 Delivers Increased Speed, Performance and Reliability of
Software Distribution

BERKELEY, Calif., November 23, 1998 -- ;Wave Research, FileWave developer
and innovative developer of knowledge management applications, today
announces FileWave 3.2 with support for Apple's Open Transport using the
AppleTalk protocol, the new networking architecture for Mac OS. Customers
deploying FileWave 3.2 over Open Transport will now realize increased
performance, reliability, speed and cost savings in their enterprise
software distribution implementations.

Additionally, the company has announced plans to convert FileWave's network
interfaces to use Open Transport with the Internet Protocol (IP). This
gives system and network administrators greater flexibility in setting up
their networks. It also sets the stage for FileWave to run as a native
application under the Mac OS X platform. As a result, companies will now
have the ability to distribute software seamlessly and efficiently to
thousands of users over wider networks.

"Wave Research is committed to the evolution of the Macintosh platform,"
said Franois Lagae, president and ceo of Wave Research. "As our customers
upgrade their Mac-based systems, we will continue to enhance and develop
FileWave to address the key performance, speed and manageability
requirements for enterprise software distribution."

Marty Heyman, vice president of marketing added, "This announcement sets
the stage for enterprise-level software distribution and asset management
on Mac OS X. With support for Open Transport and IP, we're essentially
extending the benefits of FileWave and Asset Trustee to more users and
providing them access to FileWave's scalability, centralized management,
transparent delivery and deployment of critical business applications."

Pricing and Availability

FileWave 3.2 with Open Transport support will be generally available in
December of this year. FileWave for IP is scheduled for release in Q1 '99.
FileWave Enterprise Edition, which includes software distribution and asset
management, starts at $2,530 for 20 users. FileWave with the software
distribution component alone is offered at $1,863 for 20 users. FileWave is
delivered through a worldwide direct sales force in North America and
Europe.

About FileWave

FileWave addresses the high cost of ownership of desktop and laptop
computers in an innovative way. It builds upon and extends the concepts of
intelligent push-pull technology by adding automated management and
continuous control to the distribution of software. FileWave provides this
automation through associations of groups of files with groups of users in
a centralized server. Rather than remotely executing installation scripts,
FileWave's intelligent agents check the server for new files, download them
and continuously guard the installation on the client side. FileWave
addresses increased mobility and telecommuting requirements and allows
administrators to easily manage thousands of notebooks simultaneously as
proven in the field. The FileWave Repository and Administrator run on Mac
System 7.5 or later, with clients running on Mac System 7.1 or later.
FileWave repositories and clients also run on Mac OS 8.5.
