Course Details

- Comprehensive overview of Plug-ins
We'll look at what you need to know about plug-ins in general so that
you'll be able to integrate just about any plug-in into your solution.

- Proper installation, and registration of plug-ins

- Licensing and distribution issues.

- We will explore some solutions where people have integrated plug-ins.

Hands-On Exercises:

- "Chart Summarized Data" (with the oAzium Charts plug-in)
Learn how to take summary data and create dynamic charts for use in
sub-summary reports. This will cover most of the functions in the Charts
plug-in.

- "Room Reservations" (with the Date & Time Plug-in)
Learn how to make a reservation system for a small company that needs to
manage a few conference rooms and needs to know when those rooms are
available on a daily basis.

- "Extending Room Reservations" example to work on an hourly basis rather
than a daily basis.

- "Schedule Events" (with Script Scheduler)
Discover how you can set FileMaker in motion to do things when you are
not there...
Run a report at a specified time; Close and reopen files at scheduled
times with a specified password; Validate a field with a script

- "Create and Manipulate Files" (with Troi File Plug-in)
Learn how you can create/append files (including text or html documents)
from inside FileMaker

- "Progress & Dialogs" (with Troi Dialog Plug-in) will illustrate how you
can give users feedback as to how much time a process might take. Also
make your solutions look more professional by including more feedback
with dialogs that ask the user for a username and password.

- Question and Answer session regarding the plug-ins

- Students are encouraged to bring their own plug-in challenges. Time
permitting we'll see how we can provide a solution with our new knowledge
brainstorming as a class. This is very useful to introduce new ways of
thinking... A solution might even include 2 or more plug-ins.
