FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Farallon Ships SkyLINE(tm) Wireless PC Card for Cross-Platform Networking

802.11 Wireless Connectivity for Macintosh PowerBooks & PC Notebooks

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. August 30th, 1999 - Farallon Communications, Inc.,
developer of reliable, plug-and-play networking solutions for Macs and PCs,
ships SkyLINE Wireless PC Card for portable computers. Farallon's SkyLINE
Wireless PC Card provides both Macintosh PowerBook and PC notebook users
access to network resources such as file servers, email, printers and the
Internet without wires.

"SkyLINE is the best wireless card I've tested," exclaims Grant Balkema,
Faculty Technology Coordinator, Biology Department Boston College. "The
feature-packed Mac control panel is great -- The real-time statistics and
signal strength indicator allow the local network administrator to quickly
configure the optimum placement of access points, saving thousands of
dollars in added hardware and engineering expenses. On top of it all,
SkyLINE roams without failure."

SkyLINE offers Macintosh PowerBook users interoperability with Apple's new
iBook and AirPort wireless option. In addition, SkyLINE-equipped computers
can connect to a wired Ethernet network through IEEE 802.11 DSSS compatible
access points from manufactures such as Nokia, Lucent, Maxtech, Nortel
(formerly Bay Networks) and Zoom. SkyLINE users can also create an ad hoc
peer-to-peer network between two or more portable computers. A unique
Control Panel provides a real-time signal strength meter (Macintosh
version), network statistics as well as dynamic configuration, omitting the
need to restart.

"We are anticipating that mobile computing technologies, including wireless
LAN, will move rapidly toward a wider horizontal market adoption than has
been experienced to date," said Dan MacDonald, vice president marketing,
Nokia Wireless Business Communications. "The Farallon initiative is a very
important step toward wider market adoption because it wirelessly enables a
very important user, namely the cross-platform Education and Business
communities."
