[NPL] Farallon Ships 10/100 for Comm Slot II

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Farallon Ships First & Only 10/100 Card for Comm Slot II

ALAMEDA, Calif., September 28, 1998 - Farallon ships the first and only
10/100 Fast Ethernet solution for Macintoshes equipped with Comm Slot II.
This new 10/100 Fast Ethernet card works in Macintosh models with Comm Slot
II such as Power Macintosh 4400, 6400, 6500, 7220 and 20th Anniversary
Macintosh; Performa 6400, 6410, and 6420.

"Now customers with Comm Slot II machines do not have to lose their PCI
expansion slot when upgrading to Fast Ethernet," states Jeanne Flatland,
Education Marketing Manager for Farallon. "This is especially important in
Education where schools are trying to leverage their prior investments
while improving their networks for maximum throughput."

The new Fast EtherTX 10/100 Comm Slot II card features:

* 10 times the network bandwidth of 10Mbps Ethernet for maximum throughput
* NWay 10/100 auto-negotiation for easy migration to Fast Ethernet
* Full-duplex support for network connections up to 200Mbps
* Diagnostic LEDs for at-a-glance monitoring
* High-performance DEC controller chip for ultimate reliability
* Free technical support & lifetime warranty

By incorporating the same DEC chip and driver as Farallon's PN996 Fast
EtherTX-10/100 PCI card, the Fast EtherTX 10/100 Comm Slot II card offers
matching high-performance results.

"With the continuing adoption of Internet and multimedia graphics, video
and audio services, schools require higher-bandwidth to the desktop than
many businesses," states Kirk Langer, Internet Services Manager for a major
school district in the mid-west. "Farallon's addition of the new 10/100
Comm Slot II to their family of Fast Ethernet cards allows schools to
provide the increased bandwidth they need to even more machines."

In addition to the Fast EtherTX 10/100 Comm Slot II card, Farallon offers
Fast Ethernet cards for NuBus and PCI (Mac & Windows), as well as a 10/100
CardBus adapter for the new Apple PowerBook G3 Series. More information on
