ENTERA DELIVERS FIRST STANDARDS-BASED STREAMING SOLUTION ON COBALT'S NEW
RaQ 3i SERVER APPLIANCE

--Entera to Deliver Streaming Solutions which Provide Endless New and
Exciting Applications for End Users, Content Providers, and ISPs to Stream
QuickTime and Other Standards-based Streaming Formats --

Fremont, CAOctober 26, 1999- Entera, Inc, a developer of Internet Content
Processing Solutions, announced today the first RTSP/RTP (Real-Time
Streaming Protocol/Real-Time Protocol) content streaming solution on Cobalt
Networks new RaQ 3i server appliance. Using Apple's QuickTime 4 and other
standards-based technologies, Entera's Lightweight Streaming Server
Application (ELSA) will enable Internet Services Providers (ISPs), Web
hosting companies, and content providers to stream movies, music, and
interactive content.

"Entera's ELSA brings to Cobalt customers a powerful and standards-based
solution that is easy to use," said Mark Orr, vice president of business
development and co-founder, Cobalt Networks. "This software will allow our
customers to offer new services to their subscribers and to tap into new
opportunities, giving them a distinct edge in their markets."

Standards-based streaming such as QuickTime 4 is rapidly gaining
acceptance. QuickTime 4, which has been downloaded by more than 15 million
users since it was introduced on April 19 of this year, is the first
Internet streaming solution using non-proprietary, industry-standard
protocols RTP and RTSP. The new standards-based RTSP/RTP server from Entera
builds upon this remarkable technology and allows an end user to stream
rich, broadband media from an Intel-based server using the popular Linux
platform.

Entera's ELSA server has been downloaded by more than 1,200 users in the
first 30 days since it was introduced. ISPs, Internet Developers, and
content providers accounted for more than 62% of the downloads. "Entera is
excited to deliver standards-based streaming capabilities for Cobalt's
server appliances," said Steven M.West, president and CEO, Entera, Inc.
"The Cobalt and Entera relationship is central to Entera's goal of enabling
our partners to create solutions that build the Internet."

This type of widespread, multi-platform support is critical to enable the
delivery of streaming media to the mass market. This capability opens up a
myriad of opportunities to publish or host theater-quality video content,
much like the high-quality audio content available today through MP3
digital audio file formatting.

"Entera has built an excellent team of streaming media experts and is
applying them to the emerging content delivery industry," said Peter
Christy, vice president of the Internet Research Group. "We share their
enthusiasm for the explosive potential of these markets and look forward to
the exciting new applications that we believe will be enabled by this
investment."

Entera's Lightweight Steaming Server Application (ELSA) is available on 6
platforms including Linux (RedHat 6.0 or equivalent), Sun Microsystems'
Solaris SPARC & x86, FreeBSD, Windows 98, and NT platforms. These key
platform offerings appeal to a wide base of users such as small and
medium-sized businesses, large and small ISPs, enterprise commercial
organizations, and other emerging application providers. The RTSP/RTP
server is the latest development in a growing line of innovative solutions
offered by Entera. A "Beta" version of the software is now available for
