BACKJACK ENHANCES INTERNET BACKUP SERVICE WITH NEW FEATURES

MARKDALE, Ontario, Canada - Synectics Business Solutions
Incorporated, a Macintosh software developer, offers a complete
Internet backup service through its BackJack Internet Backup Service.
Since the launch of BackJack , a new enhanced version of the BackJack
software has been released to provide clients with more flexibility
and ease of use.

Located on the Internet at www.backjack.com, BackJack Internet Backup
Service is a backup service for all Power PC Macintosh computer users
developed by Synectics Business Solutions. The service was developed
as a solution for small/home office (SOHO) to medium size businesses
that need a cost effective backup, archiving and recovery system.
Recent North American statistics reveal rapid Internet growth among
small to medium sized firms and the majority will have access to the
Internet in early 1999. With this resource at their disposal, in
addition to E-mail, marketing and sales, businesses with Internet
connections will have the capability to make effective use of the
Internet for their backup strategy as well.

Christopher Brown, president of Synectics stated that, "Larder
businesses with computer specialists on staff usually have a sound
backup strategy in place while home offices and small to medium
businesses find that it's very expensive and complex to set up a
complete backup strategy for a small number of computers. BackJack
allows them to get the same protection as larger companies for a
fraction of the cost. Businesses which have experienced a loss of
data have a completely different outlook toward a backup strategy
with its potential impact on the ability to do business and its
effect on the bottom line."

Introduced in the spring of 1998, a new version of the software
supporting the BackJack Internet Backup Service has been released
with enhancements to provide additional features for the end user.
These features will make it easier for the user to select the exact
items to be backed up from the myriad of files on a computer hard
drive and fully supports the MacOS 8.5 operating system. In addition
to backing up entire folders, the enhanced software has filters, add
files and resolve aliases features which provide users with more
flexibility in selecting, organizing and managing their backup
strategy.

"These new enhancements and features are a natural extension of our
BackJack Internet Backup Service. In addition to our recent
simplified pricing plan, we will continue to improve the software
which supports the service, develop our client focus and ensure that
our subscribers enjoy the benefits of a quality service", Brown
indicated.

As the only complete backup and recovery service available for the
Macintosh platform, subscribers use free client software to perform
backups of critical files. Other services in the Macintosh world
offer a variety of limited products or service including software
products or FTP Internet storage space. Designed to eliminate the
need for additional costly peripheral hardware, on-going labour costs
and the limitations of conventional backup systems, the BackJack
Internet Backup Service is a cost effective and secure backup and
recovery strategy for business which reduces their risk exposure. It
features the convenience of full automation, off-site storage,
128-bit CAST encryption algorithm to ensure security, unlimited
storage capacity and worldwide access to files. BackJack will be on
display at MacWorld Expo in San Francisco January 5th to 8th where it
will be demonstrated in the Net Innovators Pavilion for those
attending the Expo.
