ADS Announces Upcoming Mac Compatibility for New USB Products
CERRITOS, Calif., July 29, 1998 - ADS Technologies, the leading provider of
USB upgrade solutions, announced that its new USB Port? for desktops and
notebooks would be fully compatible with the Mac OS by early fourth
quarter. The companys USB Hub is currently Macintosh compatible.
Compatibility Status of USB Ports
The USB Port? for Desktops will enable users to add USB support to most
existing Macintosh systems. This product will become available for
Macintosh systems early in the fourth quarter. The USB Port? for Notebooks,
which will enable users to add USB to most Mac OS-based notebooks, is
expected to become available at the same time. Mac OS extensions for both
products will be available on the ADS Web site and in product boxes.
USB Port?: Current Mac USB Development Platform The release of the iMac
next month marks the first Mac OS-based system to ship with USB support.
The USB Port? from ADS is currently one way for developers to add USB to
their existing Macintosh systems, enabling the testing of new USB devices
for Mac OS compatibility. The Macintosh USB developer Web site,

key platform for USB development.

The USB Port? for Desktops street price should be $69.95. The USB Port?
for Notebooks should street at $89. The USB Hub should street at $89.
What is USB?
USB (Universal Serial Bus) is a new, easy way to add peripherals like
speakers, modems, scanners, and other devices to the Macintosh. With USB,
all peripherals are plugged in externally through one standard port. The
installation process begins immediately, without the need to start an
install program or shut down the Macintosh.
