Adobe ActiveShare.com and ActiveShare Software Make the Web a More
Personal Place for Consumers
New Integrated Internet Community and Desktop Software Combine to
Offer Users an Easy Solution for Digital Imaging, Posting and
Communicating on the Web
San Jose, Calif., (June 17, 1999) (Nasdaq:ADBE)-Adobe Systems
Incorporated is making communications on the Internet more personal
for consumers, with the announcement today of Adobe ActiveShare
software and Adobe ActiveShare.com. A complete Web and software
solution for sharing photos, Adobe ActiveShare.com and ActiveShare
together give consumers a tightly integrated, start-to-finish process
for digital imaging and ultimately sharing their images in
personalized Internet communities.
Adobe ActiveShare.com is an online resource, providing information
for the growing consumer interest in digital imaging, combined with a
worldwide Web community for sharing photos, events, memories and
information. Adobe ActiveShare.com makes it easy to communicate with
others, but also provides essential tools and information to help the
novice user get involved in digital imaging. Once on ActiveShare.com,
users can download the ActiveShare desktop software to quickly get
photos into the computer from a variety of sources, perform basic
edits, and then organize them into albums.
Adobe ActiveShare software does away with the cumbersome aspects of
importing photos and provides consumers with a one-click process from
a digital camera, scanner or other sources. Once the images are in
the computer, ActiveShare provides basic photo editing capabilities,
intuitive image organization and electronic photo albuming, complete
with the option to preview the photos and albums after they're
imported and organized. For further image organization capabilities,
ActiveShare allows users to make comments on the back of each image,
or to perform searches for images stored on CD, in albums, or on the
user's hard drive.
With direct integration between Adobe ActiveShare.com and ActiveShare
software, users can easily post photos or even albums to the Web,
send email, or create personal communities to bring circles of family
and friends closer together.
Adobe ActiveShare.com and ActiveShare are part of Adobe Systems'
complete family of digital imaging products which includes the
recently announced Adobe Photoshop 5.5 and Adobe Photoshop LE, and
Adobe PhotoDeluxe software.
Adobe will demonstrate all of these new products-which serve the
entire range of users including Web and graphics professionals,
business professionals, and consumers-at David Coursey's Digital
Living Room Conference June 20-22, in Laguna Niguel, CA, and at next
week's PC Expo in New York City (Booth #4334).
"As more consumers are using the Web to communicate with friends and
family, digital images are an important and personal component of
that communication," said Kyle Mashima, vice-president Business and
Imaging Solutions, Adobe Systems Incorporated. "With Adobe
ActiveShare.com and ActiveShare, Adobe leverages its success and
experience in digital imaging to enable more people to participate in
a richer, more personal Internet experience. There's nothing more
expressive than pictures and it's exciting to be at the forefront of
this new era of community on the Internet."
