Netopia Previews Timbuktu Pro for Macintosh at MacWorld

Remote Control Software Solution for Mac OS Introduces a Host of New Feature=
s

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Jan. 10, 2005 - Netopia, Inc. (NTPA.PK), a market
leader in broadband gateways and service delivery software, today announced
that it will preview Timbuktu=AE Pro 8.0 software for Mac OS at the MacWorld
Conference and Expo in San Francisco January 10 - 14. Netopia's Timbuktu
Pro is the most feature-rich remote control software for Mac OS, enabling
network administrators and IT managers to control distant computers and
send files, instant messages and voice intercom over any LAN, WAN,
Internet, or direct dial connection.

This latest version of Timbuktu Pro includes a variety of new features
designed to increase functionality and security while working with Apple
programs. Timbuktu Pro 8.0 includes integration with Rendezvous-Apple's
zero configuration networking system-which provides yet another way for
Timbuktu Pro users to easily locate one another. This version goes beyond
Timbuktu Pro's own multiple security levels and uses system user accounts
to create a new type of secure connection that leverages Apple's existing
security.

Another security advancement of this version includes strong encryption and
data compression using Secure Shell (SSH) connections designed specifically
for securely accessing remote computers. The encryption available through
SSH secures entire data streams and protects them from potential hackers.
Additionally, the Push Installer will allow network administrators and IT
managers to install Timbuktu Pro on remote computers that do not already
have the software installed.

"Netopia has been shipping Timbuktu for nearly 20 years and has sold more
than 10 million copies worldwide. Our innovations over the years have made
it the leading remote control software solution available," said Dano
Ybarra, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Netopia.
"Timbuktu's new enhancements will enable more installations and increase
security for our customers."

Netopia will be showcasing a special preview of Timbuktu Pro version 8.0
for Mac OS at the MacWorld San Francisco show, at Netopia booth # 749 at
Moscone Center in the Business Enterprise Solutions Pavilion. Version 8
will be released to the public in late February.

sitting right in front of them; send files and folders without tying up
email; view detailed system information about remote computers; and
communicate via instant message, text chat, even voice intercom, over any
LAN, Wan, Internet or direct dial connection.
