[MD1] Xplain to Publish NetProfessional

Release is posted at http://www.netprolive.com/ if you would like your news
site to point to it.al like books and magazines.

* According to a WebWeek survey, 47.3% of web developers
use a Mac to create the majority of their Web content
-- the #1 platform by far.

The Mac has been the leading platform for web sites for a long time. With
Apple's new G3 servers, there's now that much more strength behind Mac
solutions. Web developers and network administrators have cried out for a
strong publication -- and there's a lot of information to cover in this
area.

"There have been a number of publications out there dedicated to the web
developer or Java," said Neil Ticktin, the new publisher of
NetProfessional, and CEO of Xplain Corporation, "but most companies have a
hybrid of web development, intranet, and general network administration
issues that are all interrelated. NetProfessional will focus on the needs
of this type of net administrator/net developer with hard hitting reviews,
analysis, and how-to articles that actually save people time and effort."

"We are pleased to hear that Xplain will now be publishing NetProfessional,
in addition to MacTech," said Clent Richardson, senior director of
Worldwide Developer Relations for Apple Computer. "Our Macintosh developer
community finds these resources valuable, and will appreciate
NetProfessional's technically-oriented articles, tutorials, and in-depth
looks into the issues that can help them even better meet their customer's
needs."

"Xplain's MacTech has been a great source of info for Mac OS developers for
years," said Scott Steward, president of StarNine. "and NetProfessional
very quickly became a valued resource for Mac-centric Webmasters. Given the
overlapping interests of the readers of both, I think it makes perfect
sense for both to be published by Xplain."

"I am very excited to see NetProfessional getting new life," says Jon
Wiederspan, senior consultant, Meridian Partners Limited. "During my two
years working with the staff at MacTech Magazine, I have been consistently
impressed with the quality of their work and the high content value of the
articles being published. I anticipate the same high quality being applied
to NetProfessional, which will answer a dire need for all Macintosh
Internet and network professionals."

All current subscribers to NetProfessional will automatically receive the
new NetProfessional with the same number of copies that they have left on
their previous subscriptions. Subscribers will be contacted via email by
March 13, 1998. Those who don't receive an email should contact the
magazine at mailto:custservice@netprolive.com (because we don't have an
email address on file for them).

The new NetProfessional will be available at Macworld Expo/New York, July
'98. NetProfessional is available for only $19.95 for six issues for U.S.
subscribers -- a savings of 33% off the cover price! (US$44.95
International, US$25.95 Canadian)
