STARNINE SHIPS MAJOR UPGRADE TO WEBSTAR

-- WebSTAR 3.0 Now Includes IP Multi-homing, FTP and Proxy Servers, New
Administrative Interface, Java(tm) Servlet Support, Search, and More --

BERKELEY, Calif., March 26, 1998 -- StarNine Technologies, Inc. today
announced the immediate availability of WebSTAR 3.0. This major upgrade to
the award-winning Mac OS(tm) Web server software includes new FTP and
Proxy
servers, Search capabilities, IP Multi-homing, a revamped WebSTAR
Administrative interface and support for the latest Internet standards
including HTTP 1.1, JavaSoft's Java(tm) Servlet API and WebObjects(tm).
Available immediately WebSTAR 3.0 can now be downloaded from
(http://www.starnine.com/). The upgrade is priced at $199 for current
users of version 2.x, or $299 for users upgrading from version 1.x. New
copies of WebSTAR are priced at $499, and include WebSTAR/SSL. Today
StarNine also announced the "Bundle Up" program of discount bundle pricing
and an exclusive offer for WebSTAR users on Rebound! (see related press
releases dated 3.26.98).

"With WebSTAR 3.0 we are delivering our most robust and powerful
feature-set yet," explained Eric Zelenka, product manager for WebSTAR. "At
the same time we have made WebSTAR easier to set-up and administer than
ever before. The hobbyist can start off simple, but there's still plenty
of
powerful high-tech capabilities for the professional Webmaster."

New FTP and Caching Proxy Servers in WebSTAR 3.0

Fully integrated into WebSTAR 3.0 is a full-featured FTP server that makes
it simple to serve files to any client and upload files to the server.
Popular with network administrators, the caching Proxy server helps
increase security, increase speed of Internet downloads and block access
to
unwanted sites.

IP Multi-homing, Virtual Domains and Language-Based Routing

For users running Apple's Open Transport 1.3 (standard with Mac OS 8.1),
WebSTAR supports IP Multi-homing, so that one server can serve multiple
Web
sites, each on a unique IP address. Independent of Open Transport 1.3,
Virtual domain support is also included, for serving multiple Web sites,
all running on one IP address. Language-based routing is another new
feature, allowing the server to read the language preference setting in
the
browser, and serve the content hierarchy created for that language.

Streamlined Administrative Interface

The new WebSTAR Administrative application has been completely rewritten
and redesigned to be easier to use, while offering greater flexibility and
power. This version now enables Webmasters to remotely administer a single
or multiple WebSTAR servers over an encrypted TCP/IP connection.

Extend the Server with Java

In addition to already supporting standard Mac OS CGIs, a vast number of
WebSTAR API Plug-Ins and Java Sapplets, WebSTAR 3.0 now directly supports
JavaSoft's Java Servlet API via JRun from Live Software Inc. Java Servlets
are platform-independent, server-side programs written using the Java
Servlet API, part of the Java Platform.

Latest Standards Support, Search & More

WebSTAR 3.0 also supports HTTP 1.1, persistent connections and pipelining,
which greatly speeds the download time to the browser. A WebObjects
Adaptor
is included providing communication between WebSTAR and WebObjects
applications.

WebSTAR 3.0 includes powerful site indexing and Search capabilities, based
on the Apple Information Access Toolkit (formerly known as V-Twin).
WebSTAR
can not only index your text files, it can also index the text contents of
Adobe Acrobat PDF files.

The already powerful Server-Side-Includes (SSI) capabilities have been
greatly extended, including new support for dynamic caching of
SSI-processed items and a new Tag Registry allowing third-party Plug-Ins
to
augment the SSI tag processing capabilities of WebSTAR.

The data caching system now displays a data cache efficiency gauge
allowing
Webmasters to optimize their server for the best performance. Numerous
other improvements have been made to the directory indexing, file upload
and log archiving features.

Pricing and Availability

WebSTAR 3.0, including WebSTAR/SSL, is available now from StarNine's Web
site at (http://www.starnine.com/) for $499. Current users of WebSTAR 2.x
can upgrade to version 3.0 for $199, or $299 for current WebSTAR 1.x
users.
Users who purchased WebSTAR on or after 11.15.97 are eligible for free
upgrade. Education pricing is available by calling 800/525-2580.

Bundle Up Discounts & Rebound! Offer

Special "Bundle-Up" Pricing (see related press release dated 3.26.98) for
WebSTAR bundled with other best-of-breed third-party products may be
obtained at (http://www.starnine.com/). In addition to the Bundle Up menu
of product choices, Rebound!, the new auto-restart ADB device from
Sophisticated Circuits, is also available at half-price exclusively for
