PURITY SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES WEBSIPHON v2.0 UPGRADE; DEMOS WEB DEVELOPMENT
TOOL AT MACWORLD EXPO 2000

(January 5, 2000; San Francisco, CA) -- Purity Software is pleased to
reveal the long-awaited version 2.0 upgrade of the WebSiphon web
application development environment at MacWorld Expo 2000 this week in San
Francisco, CA. Purity Software is exhibiting in the Net Innovators Pavilion
(#3458) in the North Hall of the Moscone Convention Center.

"This new version further establishes WebSiphon as a must-have tool for web
application developers and Application Service Provider environments," said
Nathan Nunn, President and CEO of Purity Software. "New features like
built-in support for HTTP file upload and the network libraries offer great
utility and ease of implementation. With third-party products like the
Valentina database engine and Pickle dynamic imaging the opportunities for
WebSiphon developers continues to expand."

ABOUT WEBSIPHON

WebSiphon has been available to web developers on the Mac OS platform since
1996, and enjoys a reputation as one of the most powerful and flexible
server-side scripting products available. Unlike competing products
utilizing an HTML-style tag-based approach to web development, WebSiphon
offers the SiphonScript scripting language which makes it easy for novice
and experienced users alike to create extremely powerful applications.

UNSURPASSED DATABASE SUPPORT

Using the right tool for the job is always important, and WebSiphon's wide
array of database storage options for your web applications won't let you
down.
Every copy of WebSiphon includes the Verona database engine, developed
specifically for use on the web. For those who prefer FileMaker Pro, a
complete suite of functions are included that can access databases served
on the local web server or elsewhere on an AppleTalk network. Using
WebSiphon Enterprise Edition, developers can connect to any ODBC-compliant
data source when development needs demand scalability and distribution of
servers among multiple machines.

WebSiphon's architecture allows third-party developers to create add-on
products that further extend the capabilities of the environment. Paradigma
Software has integrated the Valentina database engine with WebSiphon for
users desiring speed and power beyond flat file or desktop database
solutions. Valentina provides a fast and friendly database server with
excellent scalability without the expense and complexity of a large-scale
RDBMS. Further information on Valentina for WebSiphon is available from
Paradigma's web site at (http://www.paradigma.com/).

NEW FEATURES IN THIS VERSION

WebSiphon v2.0 represents a significant update for the environment, including:

-- WebSiphon is now available as a W*API plug-in in addition to the
stand-alone ACGI application. The plug-in version offers improved
performance, eliminating Apple Event communication with the web server.

-- HTTP file upload & multipart form data support allows users to upload
files to a web server using standard browsers. File uploads can be limited
in size globally or on a script-by-script basis.

-- The SiphonScript language has been updated to include exception handling
and improved repeat loop syntax.

-- Improved security in multiple-user environments allows site
administrators to limit script execution to WebSiphon's "Templates" folder.

-- Support for multiple merchant accounts with MacAuthorize Hub

-- Enhanced TCP/IP built-in functions including HTTP, FTP and SMTP/POP

-- Shutdown scripts that execute when the WebSiphon application is quit

-- Customizable error pages help keep cryptic messages from confusing site
visitors

-- Web-based administration offers ease of administration when away from
the server (optional)

-- A wide array of small enhancements: improved performance, support for
POST arguments greater than 32K, updated add-on API, expanded math
functions and more!

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

WebSiphon v2.0 is priced at $495 and will be available for purchase later
this year. Customers who purchase the currently available WebSiphon v1.5.1
package after January 1st, 2000 will receive a guaranteed free upgrade to
WebSiphon v2.0. Upgrade pricing for current WebSiphon customers will be
announced soon.

WebSiphon Enterprise Edition is available in two different versions: a
bundle package including the WebSiphon development environment itself
priced at $1499; and as an add-on library available for use by existing
WebSiphon owners for $1099. WebSiphon Enterprise Edition is compatible with
both WebSiphon v1.5.1 and the soon to be released v2.0.

Purity Software offers a 15% discount on all of our products to qualifying

requirements may be required for specific ODBC drivers.
