[MD1] Valentina Cross-Platform DB Engine/Visual Builder Unveiled

June 17, 1999. Beaverton, Oregon. Paradigma Software today released
version 1.2.2 of its cross-platform database software development
kit, Valentina SDK and unveiled a new visual upgrade to its popular
scriptable database tool, Valentina.

Valentina SDK for Macintosh OS, and Valentina SDK for Windows
95/98/NT allow developers to add powerful database functionality to
applications developed in Metrowerks CodeWarrior environment, and
Microsoft Visual C++ development product. The Valentina SDK kernel
has over 200 powerful internal classes that developers can address
through 20 light weight classes of the SDK. The Valentina database
kernel has such a small and efficient footprint that databases can be
as small as a few kilobytes.

Paradigma Software also made available Valentina 1.5, built with the
Valentina SDK. Now in public beta testing, Valentina 1.5 adds a
powerful visual browser to quickly create object oriented relational
databases. Valentina allows users to create, modify, search, sort and
work with multiple, open databases using Applescript, the system
level scripting language of Apple Computer's Macintosh operating
system. Database designers or anyone skilled at scripting can work
with Valentina and any Applescript friendly interface builder, such
as REAL Software's REALbasic development environment or IncWell's
SuperCard product.

"By putting Valentina 1.5 in the hands of Valentina SDK developers,
they can not only quickly and easily create new object oriented
databases, but see how fast and robust the Valentina database engine
is in working with databases with over 100,000 records, compared to
other database engines on the market. Valentina 1.5 is based on the
kernel itself and is an excellent example of how a very small
application can work with immense databases," said Ruslan Zasukhin,
President of Paradigma Software.

Valentina SDK is built on the ultra-fast Valentina database kernel.
The kernel has been tested as indexing and searching 100-500 times
faster than many popular Macintosh-based databases on the market, and
with sorting tests ranging up to several thousand times faster. It
supports fields of type boolean, byte, short, ushort, long, ulong,
string, date, time, BLOB and ObjectPtr. Database files can each be up
to 2 GB in size. Its support for BLOB objects allows for storage of
almost any binary datatype, including graphics and video.

Valentina SDK for Macintosh OS, and Valentina SDK for Windows are
available now at an introductory price of $279 per platform, or $499
for a bundle of both products, through the end of June, 1999.
Beginning in July, the regular price for each platform is $499.
Valentina, the scriptable database engine, is available for $49.
Academic pricing is available. All products can be purchased through
