SOLUTIONS ETCETERA SHIPS NEW TOOLS FOR SUPERCARD DEVELOPERS
PLACERVILLE, CA - Oct. 21, 1999 - Solutions Etcetera, today announced,
under a strategic partnership with IncWell DMG, Ltd., the availability of
the new Internals Toolbox, providing professional SuperCard developers
unprecedented access to information and technology to extend the powerful
authoring tool.
SuperCard is a high-powered multimedia authoring environment that gives
users the ability to create custom applications and take full advantage of
the graphics and multimedia power of the Macintosh platform. At the heart
of SuperCard is a powerful scripting language called SuperTalk, which gives
complete control of the computer environment and makes development of
custom programs fast and efficient. Many specialized applications built
upon SuperCard also incorporate external code modules, and developers have
long requested a comprehensive tools and support to assist in developing
externals and extending the capabilities of SuperCard.
THE SUPERCARD INTERNALS TOOLBOX
The Internals Toolbox includes documentation, examples, shells, and a
library of routines designed to empower developers to create external
commands and functions to extend the functionality of SuperCard well beyond
the scope of the SuperTalk programming language.
At the heart of the Internals Toolbox lies a library of routines which
allow XCMD developers an interface layer between XCMD code and SuperCard's
internal application routines and data structures, allowing you to access
these without detailed knowledge of SuperCard's inner workings.
"IncWell's SuperCard has always been a great RAD tool, but there are some
things it can't do. The new IT now provides developers the tools and
support to roll there own functionality into their SuperCard based
applications, making SuperCard one of the most widely extensible authoring
tools available. We fully expect this to be a wake up call for many Mac
developers that may not be aware of just how productive they can be with
SuperCard", said Scott Simon, Director of Product Development for Solutions
Etcetera.
"Prior to joining the SuperCard team I wrote hundreds of SC-specific XCMDs
myself, so I have a pretty good idea what things are like on that side of
the fence" said Mark Lucas, lead engineer on the Internal Toolbox. "My goal
for this project was to make it possible for other XCMD developers to do
what it took me thousands of hours staring at Macsbug to figure out,
without having to endure that penance themselves. These routines are the
keys to the whole SuperCard universe; hop in and take it for a spin!".
To make things as easy as possible for beginning C programmers, the
Internals Toolbox comes with a set of over fifty example XCMDs which
demonstrate how to use nearly all of the over one hundred Internals Toolbox
callbacks, so developers will always have some working code to examine and
step through if questions arise about the syntax or usage of any routine.
Furthermore the Internals Toolbox no longer requires an NDA of any kind, so
XCMD authors can (and are actively encouraged to) discuss freely and
publicly any questions or issues related to Internals Toolbox usage in
forums such as the SuperCard mailing list, and to post or otherwise
distribute source code which uses the Internals Toolbox for the benefit of
other SuperCard developers.
SOURCE CODE AVAILABILITY
For those developers interested in entering into a non-disclosure
agreement, the Internals Toolbox Source Code is available as part of the
product, offering an unprecedented level of direct access to SuperCard's
internal data structures and routines.
The SuperCard Internals Toolbox is expandable. New routines may be added to
the object code libraries and programming interfaces. If a needed
capability does not currently exist as a part of the product, contact
Solutions Etcetera, and we will work closely with you to provide the
functionality you desire.
The SCPro Internals Toolbox Development Toolkit sells for US$149.95, with
an introductory price of US$99.95 available for all orders placed within 30
days of the initial ship date.
Until October 30, IncWell is offering new users special pricing on
SuperCard at just $75.00, so for a limited time customers can get the
Internals Toolbox and SuperCard for just $174.95.
