[MD1] SentinelWizard Fights Software Piracy

New SentinelWizard GUI is Breakthrough Implementation Tool For
Developers in Fight Against Software Piracy

Irvine, CA, -- Rainbow Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:
RNBO) announced today the SentinelWizard GUI (graphical user
interface), a breakthrough in software protection design and
functionality. The SentinelWizard, part of the latest software
release for the SentinelSuperPro, guides developers in easily
implementing and integrating advanced protection into their
SentinelSuperPro key.

"Rainbow has taken its years of industry leading experience and
created the simplest way for developers to implement and maximize
software protection. SentinelWizard allows developers to quickly
implement secure software and revenue protection," says Norm Denton,
Rainbow's senior vice president worldwide sales and marketing.
"Additionally, SentinelWizard allows developers to take full advantage
of the flexibility of our SentinelSuperPro keys. The SentinelWizard is
another example of Rainbow's technological advantage and our
ease-of-use leadership."

SentinelWizard makes implementing SentinelSuperPro software protection
as easy as 1-2-3. Developers simply describe how they want to sell
their products, SentinelWizard then automatically programs their
SentinelSuperPro key and generates pseudo code to complete the
protection process. SentinelWizard makes implementing the world's
best software protection easier, quicker and more secure for
developers.

Since its introduction, SentinelSuperPro has been the industry's most
advanced hardware key. It is the only key to feature multiple
algorithms (algorithms are undeniably the most secure and easiest way
to protect applications). With 14 field-activated algorithms,
SentinelSuperPro lets developer's protect today's products and
tomorrow's upgrades to increase sales, distribution and marketing
capabilities.

Besides the SentinelWizard, this release of the SentinelSuperPro
software includes:

1. A tutorial on software protection and the SentinelSuperPro key

2. SentinelShell, Rainbow's automatic protection software, offers
quick and easy protection for DOS, 16 & 32 bit Windows applications
and has been tested to work with 50 of the most popular development
languages.

3. The release also offers developers full documentation support with
two complete manuals: a Developer's Guide to lead you through the
implementation process, and a Programmer's Reference manual with
detailed information on API's and programming tips. The complete text
of the manuals can be found with the on-line help which contains a
glossary, search capabilities, as well as context sensitive
information.

An additional component of the SentinelSuperPro release is
SentinelSAFE which now allows for encrypted updating of the
SentinelSuperPro key, often necessary when protecting leased software.
SentinelSAFE is available as a complimentary add-on product for
Rainbow's customers.

The SentinelWizard is shipping worldwide in all SentinelSuperPro
Developer's Kits. The SentinelSuperPro Developer's kit contains a
unique fully functional SentinelSuperPro key and the Sentinel CD-ROM
which contains the new software release and on-line documentation.
Software piracy is the greatest threat to the success of the software
industry. The Business Software Alliance estimates that developers
lost over $15 billion in software sales. The Software Publishers
Association estimates that in many countries over 90% of the software
in use is illegal.

Rainbow Technologies, founded in 1984, is the world's leading supplier
of software protection products. Rainbow is a leader in secure
communication and cryptographic products for U.S. government agencies
and the commercial marketplace. Rainbow's products are sold directly
from offices in the United States, France, Germany and the U.K., and
through a network of authorized distributors in 45 countries. Rainbow
was recognized by Forbes magazine as one of The Best Small Companies
and in SmartMoney magazine as one of the Seven Stocks for the Next
Decade. Rainbow is ISO 9002 certified.
