4th Annual Conference on
Scientific & Engineering Applications
of the Macintosh Goes Electronic

MacSciTech's SEAM'97 will take place on the World Wide Web

Worcester, MA. The MacSciTech Association today announced
that it will host the Fourth Annual Conference on Scientific and Engineering
Applications of the Macintosh (SEAM) in January 1997. Scheduled to run from
January 3 to 31, 1997, this year's conference will be the first to take place
electronically, via the Association's World Wide Web site,
http://www.macscitech.org/.

Officially dubbed, eSEAM'97, the conference will cover applications of the
Macintosh in many fields of science, engineering, and medicine. Sessions will
address functional and practical applications, including: Multimedia in
technical presentations, Software development for scientists and engineers,
Application automation with scripting, Internet in science and engineering,
and Economics, politics, and future of the Macintosh in science, engineering,
and medicine. The conference is being co-chaired by Dr. Dale Graham, National
Institutes of Health, and Dr. Barbara Jezl, E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co.
Inc.

Expanding on the traditions of its face-to-face predecessors, which were held
in conjunction with Macworld Expo, this electronic conference will allow
technical professionals to share their work over the Internet without the
hindrance of travel expenses and conference fees. Discussion sessions and a
vendor kiosk will also be provided. For authors wishing to contribute papers,
the full-length Call for Papers will include deadlines for peer review and
recommended formats for contributions. The Call for Papers will be posted to
the Association's Web site shortly, http://www.macscitech.org/.

MacSciTech, founded in 1991, is an independent, professional association of
over 1500 scientists and engineers from aerospace, pharmaceutical, medical,
university, and manufacturing companies. MacSciTech produces publications
and CD-ROMs, technical conferences, education and training programs,
electronic communications systems, and local meetings to support Macintosh
end users in science, research, engineering, and industry. The Developers
Advisory Council of MacSciTech is a group of over 30 hardware and software
developers who also work to promote the effective use of Macintosh computers
in science and engineering.
