Fourth World Releases Wetware Collection Volume III
New XCMD Collection for SuperCard Includes Support for QuickTime 3
LOS ANGELES, 10 June, 1996 - Fourth World(TM) announced today that it
began shipping The Wetware Collection Volume III, a set of plug-in code
resources which add a wide range of powerful new capabilities to
SuperCard, the award-winning multimedia authoring system recently
acquired by IncWell DMG, Ltd.
The Wetware Collection Volume III consists of 22 externals by Mark Lucas
of Wetware, Inc., bundled together for one low price. WWCvIII ships in a
revised version of the same easy-to-use project as Fourth World's SCX and
SuperCard's own Xtend project, which provides an interactive demo of each
external and flexible, easy-to-use installation options.
"Mark Lucas' first two XCMD collections have been very popular with
SuperCard developers," said Richard Gaskin, founder and president of
Fourth World. "The Wetware Collection Volume III provides a lot of new
capabilities developers have been asking for, like support for true
arrays and some of the new features in Apple's QuickTime 3.0."
The Wetware Collection Volume III includes the following XCMDs and XFCNs:
 o Array XFCN
Creates one, two, or three-dimensional arrays in SuperCard.
 o ChunkOffset XFCN
Performs quick and flexible parsing of textual data.
 o ExtractArray XFCN
Extracts rows of an array (created with the Array XFCN) which meet
   specified conditions.
 o FileComment XFCN
Gets or Sets the Comment data which appears in the Finder's "Get Info"
   window.
 o FilterPicture XFCN
Applies QuickTime 3.0 filter components to SuperCard picture objects
or pictures on the clipboard, for individual or batch processing of
   image enhancements.
 o FindCreator XFCN
Returns the path to the application which owns a particular document
or is associated with a specified creator code.
 o FixWindowZoom XRTN
Modifies window zooming and resizing behavior in SuperCard to more
closely follow Apple's Human Interface Guidelines.
 o ForwardDelete XRTN
Adds support for the Forward Delete key to all SuperCard text-editing
   routines, including the script editor.
 o GetSize XFCN
Returns the minimum and recommended amount of memory needed
   to launch a specified application.
 o ICLaunchURL XFCN
Uses the Internet Config extension to launch the user's preferred
application to access a specified URL. The appropriate client
application type is selected automatically based on the form of
URL, or can be determined by the scripter using an optional
'hint' string to indicate the protocol.
 o ImportImage XFCN
Uses the QuickTime 3.0 Graphics Importer Components to import
a wide variety of image formats into SuperCard, including PICT,
JPEG, JFIF, GIF, QTI, PNG, TIFF, Targa, SGI, BMP, MacPaint,
QuickDrawGX, and PhotoShop 2.5+. ImportImage can also be used
to retrieve the poster frame image from a QuickTime moov file.
 o MegaTRAN XFCN
Creates custom SuperCard transitions using the new transition
effects in QuickTime 3.0. Currently QT3 provides over 140
different types of transitions, most of which can be configured
in a number of different ways, so the potential number of
different effects MegaTRAN can generate is nearly limitless.
 o MisterEd XFCN
Modifies the SuperCard resource that controls what SharedFile
SC uses, allowing power users easier control over which editing
   environment SuperCard will launch.
 o ObjectBrowser XRTN
Displays a floating palette window that lists all the objects
on the current card or background in a "Finder-style" list.
Probably the easiest and quickest way to access individual
   objects in SuperCard.
 o PadArray XFCN
Quickly formats the contents of an array created with the Array
XFCN for attractive display in columns using a monospace font.
 o SetSelect XCMD
A fast and easy way to select objects at runtime based on
their type and name (or lack thereof) under script control.
 o SortArray XFCN
Performs advanced multikey and lookup-based sorts on the
contents of arrays created with Wetware's Array XFCN.
 o SuspendResume XRTN
Generates 'suspend' and 'resume' messages in SuperCard whenever it
is switched into or out of the background.
 o TimeOut XRTN
Sends you a message when SuperCard has not received any user input
for a specified period of time - handy for kiosk applications.
 o Timers XRTN
Sends periodic messages at specified intervals to the current card
of your SC project, or to any other open object. Once created, timers
may be temporarily suspended, rescheduled, or permanently deleted.
 o UniqueItems XFCN
Quickly extracts a list of unique items from unordered text data.
 o WindowsMenu XRTN
Creates and maintains a "Windows" menu, which appears to the right of
   your regular SuperCard menus.
