PartBank and Release Software Deliver
Downloadable Software on the Internet

Developers can conduct software sales on the Internet using Release's
SalesAgent from www.partbank.com

MENLO PARK, Calif -- Dec 16th, 1996 -- Kantara Development, the creators of
PartBank, announced an agreement with Release Software Corp., the leading
provider of electronic software distribution products and services.
Through this partnership, software developers can create software products
to sell electronically, directly from their Web site while being indexed
under the PartBank database.

Release Software, the leader in electronic software distribution tools and
services, has agreed to supply its SalesAgent technology to software
publishers interested in reaching consumers through the PartBank website
located at www.partbank.com. SalesAgent allows software developers to
create time or feature-based trials of their applications and then leads
the end user through an easy online registration and payment process.
PartBank will add value to its users by offering a trial area where users
can demo software first to see if the software best meets their needs. If
consumers decide to purchase, SalesAgent enables an instant upgrade to a
fully functional version of the software at the touch of a key. SalesAgent
acts as an application's built-in salesperson and allows the software
purchase and upgrade to happen instantly on the users desktop.

PartBank is a reseller-independent storefront where users and developers
can find software titles ranging from OpenDoc Live Objects, ActiveX
components, Java applets, and Netscape Plug-Ins. Commercial software,
shareware and freeware titles will be stored in PartBank's database,
providing a comprehensive virtual library of software titles for each
technology.

Independent commercial software vendors register with Kantara or Release
Software to directly market their software over the Internet. Release
Software will provide the technology to enable a secure, encrypted software
title for download on the software vendor's Web site while PartBank will
serve as an index of downloadable software and component resources.

Kantara announced today that the standard setup fee for software companies
at PartBank.com will be waived when using Release's SalesAgent technology
to encrypt their software.

"We are quite excited to work with PartBank by giving software developers
the power to sell downloadable software directly from their web sites
through a link to PartBank," said Matthew Klein, president of Release
Software. "ISVs today can enhance their distribution strategy by exploring
web-based sales channels."

"Kantara believes in allowing users the ability to try software and
purchase directly through the ISV", says Steven Roussey, founder of Kantara
Development. "Release Software offers the most advanced and secure
technology for ISVs looking to sell downloadable software from their web
sites. Increasingly, component developers are looking to the Web to
distribute their product."
