3. RHAPSODY DEMO CD: INSTALLATION PROBLEMS?

As some of you have already experienced, there are problems installing
OpenBase off the Rhapsody Demo CD. If you would like to try OpenBase,
please download it from one of our ftp sites (See directions below).

OpenBase Lite & OpenBase Network now have a new installation program that
makes installation easy on Rhapsody. A 7 day demo of OpenBase Network is
available when you install. You also have the option to install the FREE
OpenBase Lite license.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When you download OpenBase for Rhapsody you MUST make sure
to uncompress the file on your Rhapsody computer. DO NOT uncompress the
file on MacOS.

4. OPENBASE LITE: INFORMATION ON THE FREE LICENSE
------------------------------------------------------

OpenBase Lite is a FREE run time license to our popular SQL database. The
purpose of the license is to allow software vendors to sell shrink-wrapped
database applications without paying royalties for single licenses.

OpenBase Lite provides a zero administration database interface. An EOF
adaptor is included. OpenBase Lite does not include development tools and
should not be used to host web applications (this would violate the license
agreement). Inexpensive development licenses are available for Rhapsody
development projects (See special offer described above).

To receive OpenBase Lite download OpenBase5.1.3 from one of the sites
listed below. OpenBase Lite for Yellow-Box on NT will be made available as
soon as Yellow-box on NT is available. OpenBase Lite will not be available
for OpenStep 4.2 systems.

DO NOT DECOMPRESS THE FILES ON MAC OS. COPY THE FILES DIRECTLY TO YOUR
RHAPSODY COMPUTER.

RHAPSODY INSTALLATION:

1. Decompress the OpenBase package. Here are the steps:
Step#1 - Highlight OpenBase5.1.3_PPC.compressed in the FileViewer.
Step#2 - In the File menu select "Decompress"
2. Run the OpenBase Setup program AS ROOT. Here are the steps:
Step#1 - Highlight the Setup.app program in the OpenBase5.1.3_PPC
directory.
Step#2 - Go to the Services menu and select AppOpener-)Open As Root.
3. Choose OpenBase Network to install a full version of OpenBase
with all development & administration tools. A 7 day demo is
provided automatically.
4. OR Choose OpenBase Lite to install the FREE single user version
of OpenBase. OpenBase Lite includes an EOF adaptor but no admin tools.
5. Wait for the installation to finish.
6. Reboot your computer.
