Open Media Toolkit Pro Unveiled

April 9, 1997 - San Diego based Pacific Media WorX has announced that
"Phase One" development and successful beta testing of its Open Media
Toolkit Professional, has been completed.

Open Media Toolkit Professional, is a high performance commercial level
C++, 32 bit, three dimensional (3D) capable framework, designed for
cross platform game and multimedia product development. OMT Pro is
revolutionary in that products created within OMT Pro's single source
code framework, when compiled, will produce software capable of running
on four different operating platforms. They include Windows'95, and NT,
the Macintosh, and Power PC.

Smart object-oriented structures allow OMT Pro applications to be
platform independent with no speed lost compared to native applications.
OMT Pro is not a Windows/Mac cross-platform API or a "porting" software,
but a platform independent framework which has two layers: Windows and
Mac. Hybrid products are simultaneously developed for each specific
platform, from genesis. Stability and operating system
incompatibilities typically associated with software that is "ported"
are non-existent.

"Phase Two" development of OMT Pro is scheduled for release late in
the third quarter of this year and will feature the inclusion of Sony
Play Station development resources in addition to Windows and Macintosh.

Currently, OMT Pro is utilized by Pacific Media WorX for in-house and
third party development projects created by PMW. OMT Pro is also being
used by PMW to produce a 3D sports game for Microleague Multimedia
(NASDAQ: MLMI). As well, OMT Pro has been licensed to Pitango Multimedia,
an affiliate of Scitex Corporation (NASDAQ: SCIXF). Pitango has utilized
OMT in ClickWorks, a product designed for multimedia presentations that
has received high praise.

At this time, PMW is examining possible licensing opportunities and
strategic alliances surrounding OMT Professional. However, later this
year, PMW will begin licensing to the software development industry,
the Open Media Toolkit, which will be offered as an affordable but
feature limited translation of the Professional version. Specific
details on OMT and its pricing structure are not available at this
time, and will be announced at a later date.

** A OMT Pro product and feature summary sheet (not inclusive)
accompanies this release.

Platform independent framework supports: Win '95 and NT, Macintosh
and Power PC

Full thread 32 bit architecture

Comprehensive, high performance 2D and true 3D support.

Common base API for both 2D and 3D world simulation. This gives motion,
hierarchical object structure, scripting support, multiple view ports
to both the 2D and the 3D rendering method. 2D and 3D world can be
mixed. Also several worlds can be combined, for example you can display
a 2D or 3D world on the face of a polygon which is displayed in another
world.

3D Engine supports flat shading, gouraud, texture mapping, multiple
colored light sources, translucidity, 3D sprites, open architecture for
the rasterizer (you can keep the OMT 3D logical layer and redirect the
rasterization process to an hardware card for example), three polygon
sorting methods, two polygon software rasterizers.

Advanced graphics features. For every image format (compressed or linear)
you have the following effects: flat alpha-channel, deep mask alpha-
channel, mask copy and transparent color. All of these effects can be
combined.

OMT works in 8, 16 and 32 bits color depth.

Built-in double-buffering that eliminates display flickering

Fast and intelligent refreshing

Drag and drop visual data and sprite management tools

Open blitter architecture. Choose from a palate of stock optimized
blitters or roll your own

Blitters palate includes support for Microsoft's DirectX and Apple's
Game Sprockets

Speed and accelerated motion can be handled transparently

Sprites may be organized as simple sequences of frames. Sequences can
be dynamically altered at any point in a sequence or on a frame by
frame basis

Support for both little-endian and big-endian processors

Intelligent visual sorting

Fast collision detection between animated objects at pixel precision
Both 2D and 3D worlds contain collision detection mechanisms

Intelligent 'mask' objects which can mask other objects in a scene

State of the art C++ support . Includes support for the STL, templates,
streams, strings, etc.

Multi channel mono or stereo sound

Cross-platform basic support for the application: display creation,
input processing, and OS message processing

Integrated, high performance flat file database

Expanded streamer produces automatic cross-platform binaries and
allows the application to put the complete structure in one file

OMT Communication Toolbox has layers for TCP/IP, IPX and serial/modem
support

Sprite based fonts

Scripting mechanism that allows the programmer to create external
script which can control any OMT based object

Java applet embedding

UI element library such as captions, button, list boxes, proportional
