[MD1] NeoAccess used in NetObjects

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NeoLogic Technology
Deployed in NetObjects Fusion

NeoAccess Enables Highly Efficient Storage and Access
of Objects in NetObjects Web Site Development Tool

Berkeley, CA -- February 5, 1997 -- NeoLogic Systems Inc. announced today
that its object database engine, NeoAccess, has been integrated as the
database technology behind NetObjects' advanced web site construction
product, NetObjects Fusion. Released in September, 1996, NetObjects Fusion
allows developers to build professional quality, feature-rich web sites
using a graphical user interface which virtually eliminates traditional
HTML programming.

"NeoAccess' small memory footprint and its ability to search rapidly
through vast amounts of data, along with its well developed programming
interface, was instrumental in the rapid development of NetObjects Fusion,"
said Martin Frid-Nielsen, vice president of engineering for NetObjects Inc.

NetObjects Fusion has been designed to simplify the process of building web
sites, minimizing code and encouraging WYSIWYG graphic manipulation.
Additionally, NetObjects Fusion is designed to allow users to incorporate
large multimedia files such as sound, Shockwave, video and other
variable-length data. NeoAccess played an essential role in providing a
flexible object database engine to efficiently manage this information.
According to NeoLogic President Bob Krause, "As an object-oriented
application, NetObjects Fusion uses NeoAccess' 'Blobs' mechanism to store
and retrieve non-object entities. This enables it to easily handle both
variable-length multimedia data and other objects in the application, with
equal efficiency and performance."

NetObjects Fusion takes advantage of NeoAccess' distinct consolidated
caching system to maximize memory and speed for both Windows and Macintosh
versions of the product. NeoAccess-based applications such as NetObjects
Fusion do not require the continuous opening and closing of files to
retrieve and return data. They bring data into memory on demand. Data is
kept in memory so that when it is needed again, it can be used instantly.
If memory becomes tight, the system automatically purges unused data from
the cache, making optimal use of any system's memory resources, and
reducing data access times significantly.

"We are pleased to have provided the database engine for Fusion," said
Krause. "NetObjects has taken our primary strengths, speed and small memory
footprint, and used them to build a truly impressive web site development
tool."

About NetObjects
NetObjects, Inc. is a privately-held company that is funded by Perseus LLC,
AT&T Ventures, Norwest Venture Capital, Venrock Associates and private

the first visual, site-oriented approach to building Web sites, unlike
first generation, text-based, page-oriented tools. NetObjects Fusion is the
first smart Web site building application that integrates automated site
building, professional quality design and data publishing, thereby lowering
the cost, time and tedium of building high-quality Web sites. NetObjects
Fusion is actively promoted by NetObjects' partners Apple Computer, AT&T,
