MiscKit for Rhapsody available for free download
(Las Vegas, NV - Dec 16th, 1997) - Ensuing Technologies announced today
they are now mirroring the complete and official archives of the MiscKit
Effort. The MiscKit is a free to use framework of classes and example code
for Rhapsody, Apple's next generation operating system.
Previously, only small portions of the MiscKit were available on various
FTP servers located throughout the world. Now, the entire MiscKit,
documentation and archives are now available in a single location.
The archives are being hosted on an FTP server supplied by Ensuing
Technologies, a premier Rhapsody developer. FTP services are available 24
hours a day, seven days a week. A quick index of the FTP server can be
found at http://www.ensuing.com/freebies/misckit/. Users wishing more
direct access can check out ftp://misckit.ensuing.com/ or
ftp://ftp2.misckit.com/ .
MiscKit was originally released in 1993 by Don Yacktman, now the founder
and maintainer of the MiscKit Effort. The original MiscKit was solely a
work of Don Yacktman, but since then the MiscKit has seen many revisions as
over a hundred developers have contributed source code, examples, and
documentation.
With the purchase of NeXT Software by Apple Computer, MiscKit has begun the
transition to being compliant with Yellow Box, the core frameworks for
Rhapsody. Early versions of the YellowBox Misckit are available now. This
version helps reduce development time, and represents a powerful collection
that every Rhapsody programmer should have.
"We are proud to be providing a home for MiscKit on our FTP server. This
continues our effort to help Macintosh developers learn and master Yellow
Box and Rhapsody.", said Karl Kraft, President and CEO of Ensuing
Technologies.
"I'm very grateful that Ensuing Technologies has offered to share their
resources to help make this archive available. This type of contribution,
from all ends of the OPENSTEP/Rhapsody community, is what keeps the MiscKit
alive and is what helped the MiscKit to become the success it is today.",
said Don Yacktman, the maintainer of the MiscKit Effort.
Further information about the MiscKit are available from the MiscKit web
site at don@misckit.com.
Ensuing Technologies is located in Las Vegas, the twenty four hour town,
and spends every hour of the day creating quality software for OpenStep and
Rhapsody.
