[MD1] MICRO PLANNER X-Pert - Version 3.0

MICRO PLANNING TO RELEASE
MICRO PLANNER X-PERT VERSION 3.0

Sophisticated Project Management Software for the Macintosh, Sun Solaris,
HP and Windows 3.x, 95, NT

Denver, CO -- Micro Planning International (MPI) today announced the latest
version of their powerful project management software for the Macintosh and
Windows 3.x, 95, NT: MICRO PLANNER X-Pert - Version 3.0. The latest release
offers added features and enhancements such as: unlimited capacities,
multiple work breakdown structures, shared project components,
enterprise-wide resource leveling, a new source code, detailed archiving
and much more. These features, combined with direct file open
compatibility, allow project managers to model the project organization and
create meaningful, successful project plans. This next generation of
software will give customers a durable, flexible and powerful project
management tool and a strong foundation for success. The new versions are
scheduled to ship in December 1997. MICRO PLANNER X-Pert ($1,995 retail) is
used at higher organization levels for consolidating and managing many
projects. Upgrades are available to non-supported users for $595 (X-Pert).
For more information, please call (800) 852-PLAN(7526) or visit our web
site at http://www.microplanning.com.

Included in the December 1997 release will be the following:

New Source Code
A single set of rewritten source code will produce native MICRO PLANNER
products on many platforms. This cuts software maintenance effort in half,
which means faster and more responsive product modifications in the future.
Additionally, MICRO PLANNER is being almost 100% rewritten with an emphasis
on flexibility. While this kind of release has taken longer to produce, the
new MICRO PLANNER product will be worth the wait.

Enlarged Capacities
The sky's the limit in the next version of MICRO PLANNER X-Pert because
maximum capacities will be removed entirely. Create as many calendar,
resource and weekly cycles as you want or need. The biggest and most
complex projects will be right at home in the new MICRO PLANNER.

Multiple Work Breakdown Structures
MICRO PLANNER X-Pert 3.0 will support as many Work Breakdown Structures.
Projects will be viewable from the point of view of any hierarchy, so users
can get the big picture by work package, by subcontractor, by location or
whatever else is most useful.

New Sharable Project Components
MICRO PLANNER X-Pert 3.0 will allow key project components (Calendars,
Weekly Cycles, Resources, and Work Breakdown Structures) to be shared
across projects. Users will soon be able to create a single enterprise-wide
calendar, for example, and have all projects use it directly, with no
importing, exporting, merging, or copying of data required. For safety,
each shared component will be password protected.

Enterprise-wide Resource Leveling
MICRO PLANNER's new Shared Resource capability will make old methods of
resource leveling obsolete. Instead of loading, merging, or importing
multiple files, MICRO PLANNER X-Pert 3.0 will let users simply connect a
project to a shared resource and immediately their project will be
competing for the use of that resource across the enterprise. Setting
project priority by resource will allow even more finely tuned resource
leveling results.

Detailed Archiving
MICRO PLANNER has always allowed users to store away current project costs
and dates for comparison against future positions. This archiving function
in MICRO PLANNER X-Pert 3.0 is being enhanced to include much more
information, which means users will have better access to what has caused
critical changes in the project schedule and cost over time.

Help
Help will be available on every dialog and be accessible from every view in
MICRO PLANNER X-Pert 3.0. It will be HTML-based and tightly integrated with
our on-line documentation.

An Enterprise-Wide Solution
MICRO PLANNER can be used independently or can be combined to provide a
total enterprise-wide solution. MICRO PLANNER Manager is ideal at the
project level, while X-Pert is designed for use at higher levels in the
organization for consolidating and managing many projects or subprojects.

MICRO PLANNER also accommodates the multi-platform hardware needs of an
organization by offering complete "file open" compatibility between their
Macintosh, UNIX, and Windows versions.
