Metrowerks Shipping CodeWarrior for MIPS(R) Embedded Systems Release 2
Targets MIPS RISC Microprocessors ISA Levels I, II, III, and IV. Toolset
Features Metrowerks' First 64-Bit Compiler

AUSTIN, Texas - March 23, 1998 - Metrowerks Inc. (NASDAQ: MTWKF,
TSE/ME:MWK)
has announced that the company will begin shipping in the last week of
March
CodeWarrior for MIPS Embedded Systems Release 2, targeting MIPS RISC
microprocessors ISA levels I, II, III, and IV. Hosted on Windows(R) 95
and
Windows NT(R), the tools support both C and C++ languages.

CodeWarrior for MIPS Embedded Systems Release 2 is a powerful and
easy-to-use
Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that transparently integrates an
editor, project manager, class browser, highly optimizing 32-bit and
64-bit
compilers, source-and assembly-level debugger, assembler, linker and debug
monitor into a single package. The tightly integrated development
environment
allows developers to quickly move MIPS powered products from design to
market,
spending less time switching between tools and more time generating code.

"The most significant addition to CodeWarrior for MIPS Embedded Systems
Release
2 over the first release is support for MIPS ISA levels III and IV," said
Greg
Galanos, president and chief technology officer, Metrowerks. "This
greatly
increases the number of processors a developer can target for a new
embedded
system."

"We're happy to be working with Metrowerks to expand the capabilities of
the
CodeWarrior for MIPS Embedded Systems," said Derek Meyer, director of
worldwide
marketing and sales for the MIPS Group of Silicon Graphics. "It's very
important to us that developers targeting MIPS microprocessors have
access to
the most powerful and up-to-date software development tools on the
market."

CodeWarrior for MIPS Embedded Systems Release 2 begins shipping in the
last
week of March, 1998, priced at US$899, available from Metrowerks and its
authorized resellers. Academic pricing is US$119. All purchases include
