Maxum Development Announces MaxumPack Pro Bundle

April 23, 1998 -- Maxum Development Corporation announces the release of
the MaxumPack Pro, a software bundle that includes Maxum's most popular
Internet server development tools. At the same time, the standard MaxumPack
has been streamlined and is now offered at a reduced price.

Maxum initiated the Internet server tools category more than three years
ago. Since that time, Maxum products have been used by a wide range of Web
developers, from building small departmental Intranets to creating
full-service commercial on-line services. To meet the needs of the broad
range of developers, many of Maxum's products have recently been introduced
in "Standard" and "Professional" versions.

"Smaller Internet developers usually need all of the features that larger
sites do, just on a smaller scale," said John O'Fallon, President of Maxum.
"The difference between the Standard and Pro versions of our products is
based on the size of the site, not on feature limitations."

Both PageSentry and Rumpus, for example, are offered in Standard and Pro
packages, but all of the features in the Pro versions are also built into
the Standard packages. PageSentry Standard supports up to 10 Sentries and
10 Notifiers, while the Pro version permits up to 100 of each. Similarly,
Rumpus Standard allows up to 32 simultaneous connections and 32 built-in
user accounts, with the Pro version supporting up to 255 concurrent users
and user accounts limited only by available RAM. In all other respects, the
Standard and Pro versions of these products are identical.

Package Details

The MaxumPack Standard includes NetCloak, NetForms, and the Standard
versions of PageSentry and Rumpus. The MaxumPack Pro includes NetCloak,
NetForms, PageSentry Pro, Rumpus Pro, and Phantom. In addition to the "Pro"
upgrades of PageSentry and Rumpus, Phantom is included in the MaxumPack Pro
because of the advanced capabilities it brings to high-traffic, large-scale
Web sites.

The MaxumPack Standard is priced at $495, a 32% discount over the price of
the included products if purchased separately. The Professional version
carries a price tag of $995, which represents a nearly 37% discount over
the products when purchased separately.

Maxum customers who already own one or more of these packages individually
qualify for special discounts on the MaxumPack, in either Standard or Pro
form. For complete details, customers can contact Maxum at 1-800-813-3410
or send e-mail to "sales@maxum.com".

Individual Product Overview

NetCloak

NetCloak, along with it's companion package NetForms, kicked off the
Internet server tools market for the Mac OS in 1994. Since then, this
"Swiss Army Knife" of Web development packages has become one of the most
widely used and critically acclaimed products in the Mac OS Web development
community.

NetForms

NetForms enables Web developers to build Interactive Web sites by
performing a range of forms-processing tasks. Using NetForms, a Webmaster
can enable users to create new Web content on the site, add to existing Web
pages, send formatted e-mail or collect form data. NetForms has proven
especially popular in educational environments, enabling
parent/student/teacher discussion forums, student work publishing, and
automated Web site management.

PageSentry

The only sure-fire way to know that a server is performing perfectly is to
test it like a real user would. For example, to test a Web server,
accessing a page using a browser leaves no doubt that the server is
running. Likewise, logging into an AppleShare server and copying a file
verifies that it is functioning perfectly. PageSentry is the "virtual
assistant" that periodically performs real Internet client activity to
verify that every aspect of an Internet site is functioning perfectly.

Rumpus

Rumpus is the premier FTP server for the Mac OS. Rumpus offers performance
and features on par with or exceeding UNIX or NT servers, combined with the
ease of use Mac OS Internet developers demand. Check out our Web site for a
sneak peak at the next version of Rumpus, which includes integrated Web
administration, new security options, and more.

Phantom

Phantom is the only complete Web crawler, indexer, and search engine
available for the Mac OS. Phantom is the easiest way to add searching
capability to your site. Since it can crawl sites via the Web, Phantom can
be used to provide powerful, seamless search capabilities for a single Web
site, virtual domains on a single server, or many different Web servers.
Phantom is also ideal for creating a central index for all of an
organization's intranet servers.

About Maxum

World Wide Web server tools for business and education. Maxum products,
NetCloak and NetForms, were the first commercial tools for Macintosh-based
WWW servers and have since become industry mainstays. All Maxum products
are designed to enhance the function and performance of Web sites by making
them dynamic, interactive, reliable, secure, fast, and accessible.
