[MD1] Macworld Expo Moving to NY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MACWORLD Expo To Be Held At Jacob Javits Convention Center of New York

New venue in new city to provide broader reach to core Mac market

BOSTON, September 18, 1997 - IDG Expo Management Company today announced
that the 1998 East Coast production of MACWORLD Expo will be held at the
Jacob K. Javits Convention Center of New York.

The East Coast's premier showcase for software and hardware vendors
supporting the Mac OS platform, MACWORLD Expo/New York will be held July
8-10. The exhibit floor and the MACWORLD Expo Conference Program take place
July 8-10. In addition, the MACWORLD Expo Professional Conference Program
will run from July 6-8.

"We are excited about launching MACWORLD Expo/New York," said David B.
Egan, president of IDG Expo Management Company. "New York is considered an
international center for creative professionals, and for companies
specializing in advertising, printing and publishing, the commercial arts,
graphic design, video production and Internet development. Staging the show
in New York will provide our exhibitors a greater reach to those core Mac
markets and, at the same time, serve as a significant draw for potential
attendees from other East Coast cities and international markets.

"A New York show also falls in line with Apple Computer's stated strategy,
as articulated by Steve Jobs, to concentrate Mac-based products on core Mac
markets - web site design, professional and desktop publishing, digital
media and education, as examples," said Egan.

"Certainly, New York is the most appropriate East Coast market in which to
target those audiences," said Tim Bajarin, president of Creative
Strategies. "Our research suggests that metropolitan New York has the
highest concentration of Mac users in the East."

MACWORLD Expo arrives in the Big Apple following a successful 13-year run
in Boston, where it was born in 1985.

To help enhance the MACWORLD Expo experience, the New York show will
introduce an enhanced conference program focusing on design applications
for creative pros, Internet publishing and the integration of the Mac with
NT network environments.

The show will retain its unique reputation as one of the few leading IT
shows in which business partnerships are routinely forged and deals
discussed - and clinched - on the show floor. "MACWORLD Expo/New York will
continue to be the place for those in the Mac OS market to broker deals and
spend money," said Egan.

The New York community is eagerly embracing MACWORLD Expo/New York.

"We are delighted to welcome MACWORLD Expo exhibitors and attendees to the
Javits Center," said Mike Eisgrau, director of public affairs for the Jacob
K. Javits Convention Center. "By bringing the show to New York, MACWORLD
Expo can benefit from the cohesiveness of one world-class venue and the
proximity to the core Mac market."
