MACADDICT MAGAZINE AND ALADDIN SYSTEMS PARTNER TO DISTRIBUTE ELECTRONIC
COMMERCE ENABLED SOFTWARE PROGRAMS TO 140,000 END USERS MONTHLY

Monthly CD-ROM Brings Consumers and MAC OS Software Publishers Closer Together

BRISBANE, CA (August 13, 1997)-MacAddict Magazine, one of seven
publications from Imagine Publishing Inc., and Aladdin Systems, the
creators of StuffIt InstallerMaker(tm), will be helping Mac OS software
developers distribute their software to the passionate MacAddict readers.

Each month MacAddict bundles a CD-ROM disc with it's monthly distribution
of 140,000. Starting with the December issue, MacAddict will feature a
"Try Before You Buy" virtual store containing software enabled for
electronic commerce using Aladdin's InstallerMaker. Taking advantage of
MacAddict's mass distribution, Mac software publishers can now incorporate
InstallerMaker's technology onto the monthly CD-ROMs to increase their
distribution and sales.

"This is just one more way that MacAddict is helping Mac developers get
their products, and product messages out to the most influential group of
Mac consumers," said Patricia Neuray, MacAddict Publisher. "In addition to
using our print magazine CD-ROM and websites to market their products,
developers can now directly generate sales. No other publication offers
developers this unique integrated opportunity."

Aladdin's InstallerMaker software allows developers to create trialware
(time locked demos) of their software with just a few menu selections, no
coding is required. Developers set the trial period for a specified number
of days or launches. At each launch of the application, the end-user is
prompted to purchase the software. Users can purchase software through
embedded technology via the Internet, modem, a voice call, fax, or US mail.
Once purchased by an end-user, the software will shed InstallerMaker's
front-end and return the software to its off-the-shelf the original format.
The only difference between buying software from a store versus buying it
using InstallerMaker is convenience--the consumer never has to leave their
house to receive a product.

"This monthly CD-ROM comes at a critical time for Mac OS developers. One
look at Mac OS 8 sales and MacAddict circulation growth shows that interest
in new Mac software is high, but traditional channels are failing to take
advantage of this opportunity. The MacAddict CD fills a dynamic and growing
need in the consumer market," said Brad Peppard, Vice President of
Marketing at Aladdin.

"MacAddict is pleased to be partnering with Aladdin Systems to help
developers increase their software sales," said Brian Schussler, Electronic
Software Sales Director for MacAddict. "This is yet another way MacAddict
is making an innovative contribution to the Mac marketplace."
