MacA&D 6.0 - Software Engineering Made Easy

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa, March 14, 1997 --- Excel Software, the world's leading
vendor of Macintosh CASE tools, today announced availability of MacA&D 6.0
for Macintosh. MacA&D is a software engineering tool for object-oriented
analysis and design, structured analysis and design, real-time and multi-task
design, data and screen modeling, integrated code generation with
editing/browsing, requirements traceability, use cases and multi-user team
dictionary.

Version 6.0 represents the next major step in the evolutionary progression of
MacA&D which over its 10 year life has been adopted by thousands of
corporate, university and government users. MacA&D has new user manuals,
improved interoperability with the document compatible WinA&D for Windows
95/NT and new features to improve ease of use.

Tool Bar Interface - Commonly used commands are now easily accessible by
clicking buttons on the tool bar across the top of the screen. Tool bar
buttons include New File, Open File, Open Code File, Save File, Print, New
Project, Open Project, Save Project, Close Project, Properties, Details,
Code, Specification, Requirements, Define and Merge. A single button click
takes a designer to the relevant text specification, source code, dictionary
entry or associated requirements for a selected diagram object in any type of
graphic model.

Integrated Specifications - Integrated text specifications can be associated
with diagram objects. Designers have instant access between diagrams, code
and relevant specifications distributed across the network.

Diagram, Template and Icon Managers - The Diagram Manager consolidates into
one convenient window, the capabilities for creating, deleting, naming,
numbering, printing and navigating the diagrams in a document. Up to 100
user defined text templates can be created and named with the Template
Manager for use in dictionary entries, requirement entries, specification
files and code files. The Icon Manager is used to create custom icons for
diagram objects.

MacA&D is an industrial strength tool priced at $1995 and compatible with
Macintosh computers or Solaris and HP-UX computers using Apple's Macintosh
Application Environment (MAE) software. MacAnalyst contains the system
analysis and top level design features of MacA&D, without the detailed design
and code generation capabilities and is priced at $995. Each product
includes a printed User's Guide, Introduction & Tutorials Guide and on-line
help. Registered owners of earlier MacA&D or MacAnalyst products can upgrade
for $499 or $249, respectively. Site licensing of each product is available
which provides multi-user team dictionary and team requirement documents on a
network.
