LightWork Design Introduces New Family of LightWorks Rendering and Utility
Plug-ins for QuickDraw 3D

LightWorks Advanced Photo-Realistic Rendering and QTVR Movies Showing at
MACWORLD Expo

SHEFFIELD, UK -- LightWork Design, the leading supplier of rendering
engines for
3D design applications, is introducing its new family of LightWorks(R)
rendering and utility plug-ins for QuickDraw(TM) 3D at the MACWORLD Expo,
Apple Developer Central, in San Francisco, January 6-9. The six new
LightWorks plug-ins offer a wide range of features, including ray-tracing,
hidden-line drawing, printing and QuickTime VR movie output.

"Apple and LightWork Design have been working together for the past four
years to provide the Apple community with high-quality 3D rendering," said
Gordon Oliver, Managing Director, LightWork Design. "Our flagship product,
the LightWorks rendering toolkit, is available for the Macintosh system,
and these new LightWorks plug-ins extend our commitment to the wider Apple
community."

The LightWorks plug-ins are available to QuickDraw 3D application
developers for inclusion as part of their products. With the plug-ins,
developers can offer their customers a range of new functionality without
the time and expense of in-house development.

"With the introduction of these new plug-ins, LightWork Design is bringing
its leading-edge rendering technology to QuickDraw 3D, making high-end
photo-realistic rendering both affordable and accessible to all QuickDraw
3D developers who support the QuickDraw 3D Plug-In Renderer Architecture,"
said David Harrington, QuickTime Media Layer Evangelist, Apple Computer,
Inc.

QuickDraw 3D application developers can choose from both rendering and
utility plug-ins:

LightWorks Rendering Plug-ins:

LightWorks PictureMaker - allows developers to quickly deliver many popular
photo-realistic rendering features to their customers, including
anti-aliasing, transparency and soft shadows.

LightWorks ShadeMaker - includes a wide selection of procedural shaders for
producing realistic textures, such as marble, clouds, wood, brick and
metals.

LightWorks RayMaker - provides advanced ray-tracing and other high-end
photo-realistic rendering features.

LightWorks EdgeMaker - provides fast hidden-line rendering, computing which
lines will be visible to the viewer in a rendered image and displaying only
those visible lines.

LightWorks Utility Plug-ins:

LightWorks MovieMaker - allows users to write QuickTime VR panoramic and
object movies with a single button click. When used with one of the
LightWorks rendering plug-ins, users can generate photo-realistic movies of
objects and environments.

LightWorks PrintMaker - allows users to write high-resolution 24-bit images
or resolution-independent vectors of QD3D render styles as Encapsulated
PostScript (EPS) files. When used with one of the LightWorks rendering
plug-ins, users have a convenient, high-quality solution for export of
photo- realistic images.

Compatibility
All six LightWorks plug-ins for QuickDraw 3D are supported on Macintosh,
Windows 95 and Windows NT systems. "It's a real bonus for users of
QuickDraw 3D applications that the new LightWorks plug-ins are available
for both Macintosh and Windows," adds Harrington.
