ALADDIN ANNOUNCES INSTALLERMAKER 5.0 AND THE "JUST STUFFIT DEVELOPER PROGRAM"

InstallerMaker 5.0 Has Heirarchical Packages And Sub-Level Assignments

New Developer Program Offers Free Technical Support, Free Use Of
InstallerMaker For Shareware And Freeware Authors, And Co-Marketing
Opportunities!

San Jose, CA (Worldwide Developers Conference)-May 11, 1998- Aladdin
Systems, Inc., developer and publisher of the software distribution and
installation standard StuffIt InstallerMaker(tm), today announced
InstallerMaker 5.0 and the Just StuffIt(tm) Developer Program. Version 5.0,
expected to ship in June, now separates packages under hierarchy for custom
install and assigns conditions, actions and packages to files and folders
deep within the installer archive.

Aladdin will debut a sneak peak of InstallerMaker 5.0 at the Worldwide
Developers Conference (WWDC) and will offer a discount coupon at the show
towards the purchase of a one-year license. For a limited time, Aladdin
will also include a copy of Aladdin FlashBack(tm) with each new
InstallerMaker 5.0 standard license purchase with the coupon from WWDC
1998. Aladdin FlashBack is a data protection utility that can track every
saved version of any document in any application.

"Aladdin continues its ten-year commitment to Macintosh developers with the
addition of hierarchical packages and sub-level assignments in
InstallerMaker 5.0," said Pauline Shumake, InstallerMaker product manager.
"These features are being applauded by developers. With InstallerMaker 5.0,
developers get the maximum benefit of all the best Mac installer features
plus free technical support. InstallerMaker is the developer's complete
installation solution."

Five Powerful New Features Introduced In InstallerMaker 5.0 *InstallerMaker
5.0 adds support for hierarchical packages. Developers can create packages
that have multiple levels of hierarchy. InstallerMaker supports root
packages and two tiers of sub-packages. These tiers allow for a cleaner and
more organized installation dialog for the user and developer.

*Developers can apply conditions, actions, and package settings directly to
items within folders in the installer archive. The addition of this feature
significantly increases the ease of creating complex installers.

*HTTP installation support has been added to "Network Install" tasks. This
allows developers to create installers that download and process files from
an HTTP web site. This useful utility is essential for the developer who
wants an active presence on the Internet.

*Internet PrefSaver has been revised with Internet service providers (ISPs)
in mind. It now includes phone number support and allows for capital
letters in the name and password fields.

*The InstallerMaker application supports the Mac OS 8 platinum style
interface.

Just StuffIt Developer Program
The Aladdin "Just StuffIt Developer Program" offers free technical support
to all registered users of InstallerMaker, co-marketing opportunities to
help developers reach a wider Macintosh audience and, for freeware and
shareware developers, a business opportunity to use StuffIt InstallerMaker
for free (one-year standard license).

"The 'Just StuffIt Developer Program' will help give developers the
opportunity for greater market exposure and success for Mac developers'
products," said Jonathan Kahn, vice president of sales. "We anticipate that
it will benefit our developer customers who want to increase their audience
easily and effectively."

Availability and Requirements
InstallerMaker 5.0 is expected to ship in June 1998.

The co-marketing opportunity details will be announced within the next 60
days. The discount and Aladdin FlashBack offer good until June 30, 1998.

Contact developer sales at dev.sales@aladdinsys.com for additional details
or to license InstallerMaker. InstallerMaker is distributed electronically

or higher. Eight megabytes of RAM is recommended. As always, Aladdin offers
