GRAYSCALE KITCHEN 1.0

PREPARE THEIR APPLICATIONS FOR THE NEW APPLE GRAYSCALE APPEARANCE

Grayscale Kitchen gives developers a hands-on approach to learning about
the future of the Macintosh experience. Grayscale Kitchen demonstrates
many new interface elements never seen before by developers, including
Apple's new tabs and the new interface that helps users to easily determine
the currently active window.
LICENSING
Because Apple hasn't made the API for the new Grayscale Appearance publicly
available, developers have a few options:
1. Wait for Apple to come out with Mac OS 8 and the new Appearance API.
This could take months or years and even then, depending on Apple's
enthusiasm, users may not be able to see the new appearance on non-PowerPC
or non-Mac OS 8 Macs.
In the near future, Grayscale Kitchen will support the ability to switch
between using its hard-coded appearance code for systems where the
Appearance Manager is not available, and using the Appearance Manager if it
is available. With this approach, users can enjoy the rich new Grayscale
Appearance even if they are running on older systems, and can take
advantage of Apple's new interface themes when the Appearance Manager
becomes available.
2. Write the code themselves, taking up precious time that could be
dedicated to more important activities.
3. License it from Viperware. Viperware will license the Grayscale
Appearance code on a contract basis. After all, why re-invent the wheel?
