INSIDER OFFERS FREE UPGRADE SERVICE FOR MACINTOSH DEVELOPERS
Limited-Time Offer Gets Upgrades and Patches into Users' Hands Quickly

July 31, 1998 [Carlsbad, CA] Insider Software today announced a unique
service for Macintosh developers that automatically sends software upgrade
information to Internet users. Tens of thousands of times a month, users
run Insider UpdateAgent as part of their regular system maintenance. The
UpdateAgent software automatically checks all their applications and sends
them via the Internet any applicable new free updates, patches, and
drivers. Now, UpdateAgent also delivers information about fee-based
upgrades provided by the developers.

FREE ENROLLMENT PERIOD FOR DEVELOPERS
To initiate the update service, Macintosh developers normally pay a $250
setup fee per application version. But until September 30, 1998, the setup
fee is waived and developers can join the Insider service for free. "Every
software developer knows that a very small portion of users actually
register their software purchases," commented Rio Sabadicci. "Using our new
Insider UpdateAgent service, developers automatically reach even
unregistered users and create significantly higher upgrade revenues."

DEVELOPER PROGRAM REGISITRATION
To register for the Insider UpdateAgent Developer Program, Macintosh
software developers should connect to
http://www.insidersoftware.com/iuNewUpgrade.html and follow the 3 step
instructions.

ABOUT INSIDER UPDATEAGENT
Insider UpdateAgent takes an inventory of every application and operating
system program on a Macintosh computer and determines precisely which
software updaters are required to bring the system up-to-date. It gets its
update information and programs from a repository maintained by Insider
Software on high-speed Internet servers and CDs. Insider builds the
repository by constantly monitoring, extracting and catloging updaters from
over 2,000 Macintosh developer web sites.

PRODUCT PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
Insider UpdateAgent 2.6 is available in three editions that offer maximum
flexibility to a wide variety of customers. The Limited Edition updates all
the software on a Macintosh via the Internet one time for $12.95 US. The
Standard Edition provides a user with unlimited, online updates for one
year for $49.95 US. The CD Edition, published quarterly, makes Insider's
complete collection of updaters available on multiple CDs and also includes
a year of unlimited online access, all for $199.95 US. Insider UpdateAgent
2.6 is available immediately from Insider Software, and can be ordered by
visiting Insider's web site at www.InsiderSoftware.com (new URL), or by
calling 1-800-700-6340 or +1-760-804-9900. Customers can also order the
product from major mail-order catalogs.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Insider UpdateAgent requires only one megabyte of memory to run on the
Macintosh system being updated, as well as whatever disk space is required
to store any relevant updaters. The CD Version also needs a local CD drive
or access to a networked CD drive. About Insider Software Insider Software,
founded in 1993 and based in Carlsbad, California, develops and markets
software products that make Macintosh computers run better. In addition to
Insider UpdateAgent, Insider also produces FontBox, the leading font
maintenance and repair utility, and HyperBox, a hypertext-based document
launcher.
