[MD1] Dynamic Access Restrictions for Web
INTERACTION 1.6: INTRODUCING DYNAMIC ACCESS RESTRICTIONS FOR MAC WEB SERVERS
San Diego, CA: Media Design in*Progress has released the 1.6 version of
Interaction, the powerful web server companion for dynamic social websites
that adapt to the visitor. The new version introduces Dynamic Access
Restrictions, a flexible means to make pages and sections of websites
conditionally available. A 60 day trial copy of Interaction can be
dowloaded from:
http://interaction.in-progress.com
Dynamic Restrictions allow or deny access to parts of a website depending
on the context of the request. Using a dialog on the Mac, the webmaster can
tailor an access restriction that for example only allows access outside
working hours, or that requires the visitor has been on one or more other
pages first.
Interaction 1.6 goes beyond realm-based access restrictions by allowing the
webmaster to use dynamic restrictions not only on page level, but also to
restrict access to XML Entities as well as to sections of a document.
Any of Interaction's many dynamic XML Entity References (server includes)
can be used when constructing Dynamic Restrictions, allowing the webmaster
to design a wide range of access restrictions. Using Interaction,
webmasters can achieve conditional content using standard markup instead of
hide/show "command tag" constructs.
The Membership Manager of Interaction has been completely revised with the
1.6 release. Membership is a central feature for building Virtual
Communities or for example to manage students in Web Based Training. The
webmaster can now conveniently manage members and groups using drag & drop.
A new Interaction 2.0 version will be demonstrated at MacWorld/Pro in
January and released shortly after the event. Interaction 2.0 will have
complete support for server-side XML. Upgrade to Interaction 2.0 is
complementary for those that purchase a license for Interaction 1.6.
Interaction is a widely used companion to Mac web servers that for more
than two years has provided a sophisticated framework for dynamic, social
and adaptive Macintosh websites with a foundation in open standards. Chat
Rooms, Threaded Forums, Shopping Carts, Cascading Style Sheets support, and
many other features are available as optional plug-in components. A license
for Interaction is priced at $795. A Core/Personal license cost $200 and
comes with up-and-running support.
