Entrust" Technologies Adds to Open Developer Suite with Release of
New Toolkit to Developer Community; Addition of Macintosh Support

COM Toolkit Now Available For Download To Spur Growth of PKI-Enabled
Applications as Momentum Builds for Entrust Open Toolkit Offerings

Richardson, TX-Entrust" Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: ENTU), global
leader in managed public-key infrastructures (PKI), today announced
the commercial availability of a new open toolkit to its
recently-announced developer suite. Entrust/Toolkit Component Object
Model (COM) Edition is available now for download at no cost directly
from the company's web site at http://developer.entrust.com. Entrust
Technologies has also added support for the Macintosh platform to its
Entrust/File and Entrust/Session toolkits. The Macintosh versions
of these open toolkits are also available now for download at no cost
directly from the company's Open Developer Web site.

Today's announcement of the new availability of Entrust/Toolkit COM
Edition and the addition of toolkit support for the Macintosh
platform, builds on the company's recent announcements at the January
1999 RSA Data Security Conference in San Jose, CA. At that
conference, Entrust pioneered the concept of no-cost, open,
standards-based toolkits designed to accelerate the development and
distribution of PKI-enabled applications that work with multiple PKI
and Certification Authority (CA) products or services. The move will
help customers by removing interoperability barriers within the
industry and seeding the market for new enterprise PKI applications
in areas such as e-commerce, e-mail, the Web, desktop security, VPN,
and remote access. -more-

"In the two weeks that have passed since our initial announcement,
more than 1600 organizations or individuals have downloaded Entrust's
software and documentation directly from our web site," said John
Ryan, president and chief executive officer, Entrust Technologies
Inc. "This figure builds on the 1000 CD's already distributed to
developers at the RSA Data Security Conference in mid-January. We
believe this is proof that our move to offer an open developer suite
will accelerate the speed at which PKI-enabled applications are
developed within the industry."

Developer feedback on the web site have also been positive with
comments gathered such as "The program is a great idea!!!I have
installed the toolkits, Entrust/PKI 4.0 and created initial
certificates. This program looks like a win-win for Entrust and its
developers/customers."

About Entrust/Toolkit COM Edition

Entrust's family of toolkits provide software developers with an
easy-to-use set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to
integrate security functions into their own applications.
Entrust/Toolkit COM Edition supports multiple PKI and Certification
Authority (CA) products or services, including Entrust/PKI, and
allows developers to easily add flexible, modular security services
for functions such as hashing, encrypting and signing with X.509 v3
certificates, certificate revocation, cross-certification, smart card
management and CRLs. Entrust/Toolkit COM Edition is a set of COM
libraries providing seamless integration with COM-compliant languages
such as Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 or higher, VBScript, and Delphi
4.0 or higher. It provides developers with comprehensive access to
the latest Windows applications. For additional information, please
visit http://developer.entrust.com.

Component Object Model enables software suppliers to package their
functions into reusable software components in a fashion similar to
the integrated circuit. Through COM, application developers are
enabled to build and distribute applications more easily than ever
before. Component objects provide both scalability from single
processes to enterprise networks and modularity for code reuse. In
addition, developers can attain higher productivity because they can
learn one object system for many platforms.
