Tangent Systems Announces BuildSim 2.0 is Now Shipping and Ready for Download

OCEAN BEACH, Calif.-- January 23, 1998 -- Tangent Systems announced today
that it is now shipping BuildSim 2.0 for the PowerMacintosh and Macintosh
Computers. It can be downloaded for free directly from the company ftp
site.

BuildSim 2.0 delivers:

-- DirectConnect, a node to node connection interface for fast model
contstruction.

-- BuildBlocks, more than 50 to choose from to make model development easy
and fast. There is no limit to the number of BuildBlocks in any simualtion.

-- SystemBlocks, BuildBlocks can be "Grouped" into a one SystemBlock - our
approach to heirarchical modelling.

-- Simulation, 5 standard simulation algorithms are supported. Multiple
simulation can be run at the same time.

-- Plotting, built-in 2-D data plotting tool. Plots can also be copied and
pasted into your favorite word processor.

-- Analysis, several analysis tools and data modification tools are
built-in, including PowerSpectrum, DSP Windows and Data Statistics.

-- Database, built-in database tool to make model-resuse and sharing a breeze.

-- CodeGeneration, when it comes to port a simulation/model to other
platforms or implement it in a real-time system you can generate C++ or
Java.

-- Security, SystemBlocks and Projects can be locked from prying eyes.

-- External Code Support, UserCodeBlocks provide for the ultimate in
customization.

BuildSim 2.0 represents a major technical upgrade. Besides the productivity
tools, increased simulation speed and more capable simulation building
blocks, is the code base is now setup for a port to Windows95. The company
is also examining the option of jumping directly to a pure Java version of
the application.

"Well - we were a bit behind schedule in getting this thing out the door,
but we feel it was well worth the delay. The product is faster, easier to
use and customize. Overall we really like how it runs now and the feature
set is right on. I know I would killed for the Bronze version when I was in
Engineering school and its free! And the upgrades really allow it work in a
professional/industrial setting - especially the code generation and
external code support features of BuildSim Platinum."

BuildSim 2.0 Provides an Integrated Development Environment for
Simulation and Control System Development :

Developers will enjoy the how easily systems can be modelled, simulated and
tested. With the integrated automatic code generator in the Platinum
Edition, BuildSim Projects can be synthesized in C++ or Java for embedded
system control, leveraging the growing internet infrastructure for
simulation and distributed process control. With BuildSim, Tangent Systems
is one of the early entrants into the field of internet enabled distributed
process control and monitoring systems. The Java code generator tool will
allow the synthesis of robo-controllers that can then be compiled and
deployed using tools already in the field.

BuildSim 2.0 Developed for Engineers, Students, Scientists and
Experimenters BuildSim was developed with students, engineers and
scientists in mind. Its easy -to-use interface masks a sophisticated set of
tools for simulation and data analysis. Complex dynamic models and control
systems can simulated and data collected and plotted. BuildSim has been
designed to make "tinkering" in the modelling/simulation world easy. On top
of that, several productivity tools have been carefully designed to make it
a truly unique and powerful application for developing and deploying
simulations and process control systems.

BuildSim 2.0 Bronze Edition is Free, Downloadable from the Tangent Systems
WebSite

BuildSim is delivered via internet as a Bronze Edition and can be upgraded
to increasingly more powerful editions (Silver, Gold and Platinum) via
password. BuildSim has many application areas including Education,
Robotics, Electronics, Physics, Engineering Design, Process Control, and
Simulation. Scientists, Engineers, and Engineering Students will find
BuildSim powerful yet easy to use. Each edition of BuildSim provides more
capabilities, functions and tools for system modelling, simulation and
deployment. The Bronze Edition is free while the Silver, Gold and Platinum
editions will have competitive price break points.
