[MD1] Apple's new structure

CUPERTINO, Calif.--Feb. 18, 1997-- Apple Computer, Inc. today announced
further details of its streamlined organizational structure that
consolidates the Company's product development, marketing, sales, support,
and operations efforts into groups sharply focused on Apple's strategy.

As part of this announcement, Apple has detailed the structure of the new
Worldwide Sales and Support organization which comprises all the geography
sales organizations, as well as Claris, and AppleAssist. This
organization, responsible for selling and bringing service and support to
customers in the education, business, and consumer markets, will be divided
into divisions organized geographically with a strong focus on fulfilling
customer demands:

North America Business Division will focus on three key markets: PEN
(Publishing/Entertainment/New Media), Enterprise, and SED
(Scientific/Engineering/Design), and will include NeXT Sales and
Professional Services. Mitch Manditch will be acting as head of North
America Business Division.

North America Education Division will be mainly focused on two key markets:
K-12 and Higher Education and will be led by Mike Lorion.

North America Consumer Division will focus on two key markets: Consumer
and the Macintosh Installed Base and will be led by H.L. Cheung

EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) will drive its region's sales and
support, led by Jan Larsen.

Japan will cover the same responsibilities for the Japanese market, led by
Tetsuya Shiga.

Asia-Pacific will cover the same responsibilities for the Asia-Pacific
market and will be led by Steve Vamos.

Latin America will cover the same responsibilities for the Latin American
market and will be led by Luis Rubio.

AppleAssist Division remains unchanged: this division is responsible for
Apple's Customer Service and Warranty activities, led by Mike Dionne.

Claris maintains an unchanged charter and strategy of selling Claris and
Apple Software worldwide, led by Dominique Goupil.

"We are shaping our sales organization to put the responsibility for sales
and support closer to our customer," said Dr. Gilbert F. Amelio, chairman
and CEO, Apple Computer, Inc. "A number of activities which previously
joined with the sales organization--engineering, manufacturing, operations,
marketing and product business management--have moved into global,
functional groups. Apple's sales organization now focuses on one thing and
one thing only--sales and support to serve our customers and fulfill their
demand worldwide."

Apple also announces that Marco Landi has decided to resign and pursue
other interests. Marco Landi was most recently executive vice president
Worldwide Sales and Support and formerly executive vice president and chief
operating officer.

Robin Abrams, previously senior vice president of Apple Americas, will
serve as acting executive vice president of the new worldwide sales and
support organization.
