1999 MACROMEDIA INTERNATIONAL USER CONFERENCE

at International Web Event

SAN FRANCISCO - April 26, 1999 - Macromedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR)
today released details of the 1999 Macromedia International User
Conference (UCON '99) on May 25-27 at the San Francisco Moscone
Convention Center. UCON '99 is the international event for authors,
designers, and developers who want to explore the latest trends and
technologies for Web publishing and interactive media content
creation.

UCON '99 - featuring 36 conference sessions, 15 tech-labs, and 36
hands-on training sessions - will include keynote presentations from
two of the Internet's most influential visionaries: @Home Chairman,
President and CEO Tom Jermoluk, and America Online Chief Technology
Officer Marc Andreessen. Also keynoting will be Rob Burgess,
Macromedia chairman and CEO, and Norm Meyrowitz, president of
Macromedia Products. Web guru Lynda Weinman will host a Designing the
Web keynote panel focusing on hot design trends with valuable
insights from leading Web designers.

"With our excellent roster of seminars, keynotes and tutorials at
UCON '99, we are proud to offer the premier conference for exploring
the latest software and techniques to add life to the Web," said Rob
Burgess.

UCON '99 sessions are designed for users to sharpen their skills on
Macromedia products, enhance expertise in creating for the Web,
master the intricacies of digital design, and learn the ins and outs
of multimedia and Web production.

Other activities include Late-Night Hacker Sessions for attendees to
practice what they have learned each day; Gatherings, which provide
venues for small group discussion; and Sneak Previews, in which
Macromedia engineers provide technology demonstrations of
never-before-seen ideas. Other conference highlights include an
opening night bash hosted by Macromedia and Oracle, the Made with
Macromedia Gallery, and the People's Choice Awards.

Macromedia's prestigious People's Choice Awards is recognized as the
No. 1 venue for showcasing print, multimedia, multi-publishing, and
Web projects developed using Macromedia products. The event allows
Macromedia users to gain industry exposure and recognition. It also
gives designers and developers a unique opportunity to recognize
their peers for outstanding achievements in multimedia, graphics and
Web design.

Corporate sponsors for this year's event include Apple Computer,
BroadVision, IBM, Silicon Graphics, Inc., NewMedia Magazine, and
Oracle. More than 3,000 conference participants, 10,000 trade show
