MACROMEDIA SHIPS DREAMWEAVER ULTRADEV

Industry Leaders Praise Cross-Server Web Application Development Environment

JavaOne 2000 Conference San Francisco, California June 7, 2000 Macromedia,
Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR), a leading provider of solutions for compelling and
effective Web sites, today shipped Macromedia Dreamweaver UltraDev, the
visual solution for rapid Web application development. Dreamweaver UltraDev
is the first application to allow visual creation of data-driven Web
applications across industry leading server technologies, such as Sun
Microsystems JavaServer Pages (JSP), Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP),
and Allaire ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML).

The following industry vendors announced support for Dreamweaver UltraDev:
IBM, Sun, ATG, Allaire, BroadVision, BlueMartini, Cache/Intersystems,
Documentum, and WebGain.

"Dreamweaver UltraDev will empower developers to work more efficiently when
creating Web applications across their choice of databases, application
servers, and operating systems," said Beth Davis, vice president of product
marketing at Macromedia. "The depth and breadth of support for Dreamweaver
UltraDev by industry leading corporations is a true testament to the
fundamental need for a flexible, rapid Web application solution that
supports the Webs heterogeneous environments."

The product shares the core architecture of Macromedia Dreamweaver, the
market-leading visual Web authoring environment for professional Web
developers. Due to that shared architecture, Dreamweaver UltraDev can be
easily extended and customized to work within any development environment
using Java technology, JavaScript programming language, HTML, XML, and C.
The following industry leaders have strongly endorsed Dreamweaver UltraDev:

Allaire
"Using Dreamweaver UltraDev with Allaire's ColdFusion Web application
server, developers can quickly and easily deliver scalable Web applications
for companies building their businesses on the Web," said Jeremy Allaire,
chief technology officer for Allaire. "The robust productivity of
Dreamweaver UltraDev and ColdFusion's reliability, scalability and
security, brings a powerful combination for developers to effectively
develop and deliver applications that meet the needs of today's
comprehensive Internet businesses. Dreamweaver UltraDev also supports the
development of JavaServer Pages which are deployed with Allaire's JRun Java
application server."

support for building data-driven Web sites, extends the industry leading
capabilities of the IBM WebSphere platform to a new community of
developers," said Paraic Sweeney, vice president of marketing Business
Transformation, IBM Software. "Through our partnership with Macromedia,
UltraDev developers can leverage the flexible dynamic page capabilities
provided by Java ServerPages and target the scalable cross platform
WebSphere Application Server to create next-generation applications built
upon a robust technology foundation."

"Both ATG and Macromedia are focused on delivering products that help
companies create customer-driven e-commerce sites that support their
business initiatives. With the ever-increasing importance of reducing
development time, it has become extremely important that companies select
products that embrace an open and extensible approach to web development,"
said Ken Volpe, vice president of product management at Art Technology
Group. "With the introduction of Dreamweaver UltraDev, Macromedia continues
to provide leadership in connecting design tools with Web application
servers."

BlueMartini

equity through direct customer interaction. The sophisticated web designs
that attract and retain today's savvy customers require design tools like
Macromedia Dreamweaver UltraDev that are easier than ever to use," says

management, transaction execution, personalization and advanced data mining
and visualizationprovides a perfect environment to leverage the ease-of-use
in Macromedia Dreamweaver UltraDev. We expect easy integration between this
visual solution to Web application development and Blue Martini's open,
three-tier software architecture."

BroadVision
"BroadVision offers the Design Center which is based on Macromedia
Dreamweaver to implement BroadVision One-To-One powered Web sites faster
and we are excited by the new and extended capabilities of Dreamweaver
UltraDev," said Bernd Rutzmoser, Product Manager for Tools, BroadVision.
"The enhanced capabilities of Dreamweaver UltraDev fit perfectly with
BroadVision One-To-One Applications in order to help us transform some of
the most ambitious e-business strategies into the most successful
e-business realities."

to create Web applications which can directly access our InterSystems'

Inc. "By wedding CACHE with Dreamweaver UltraDev, we strongly believe we
will have a best-of-breed solution for presenting the CACHE breakthrough of
rapid development technology for presentment on the Web."
