MACROMEDIA SHIPS DREAMWEAVER ULTRADEV

Industry Leaders Praise Cross-Server Web Application Development Environment

JavaOne 2000 Conference San Francisco, California June 7, 2000 Macromedia,
Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR), a leading provider of solutions for compelling and
effective Web sites, today shipped Macromedia Dreamweaver UltraDev, the
visual solution for rapid Web application development. Dreamweaver UltraDev
is the first application to allow visual creation of data-driven Web
applications across industry leading server technologies, such as Sun
Microsystems JavaServer Pages (JSP), Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP),
and Allaire ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML).

The following industry vendors announced support for Dreamweaver UltraDev:
IBM, Sun, ATG, Allaire, BroadVision, BlueMartini, Cache/Intersystems,
Documentum, and WebGain.

"Dreamweaver UltraDev will empower developers to work more efficiently when
creating Web applications across their choice of databases, application
servers, and operating systems," said Beth Davis, vice president of product
marketing at Macromedia. "The depth and breadth of support for Dreamweaver
UltraDev by industry leading corporations is a true testament to the
fundamental need for a flexible, rapid Web application solution that
supports the Webs heterogeneous environments."

The product shares the core architecture of Macromedia Dreamweaver, the
market-leading visual Web authoring environment for professional Web
developers. Due to that shared architecture, Dreamweaver UltraDev can be
easily extended and customized to work within any development environment
using Java technology, JavaScript programming language, HTML, XML, and C.
The following industry leaders have strongly endorsed Dreamweaver UltraDev:

security, brings a powerful combination for developers to effectively
