MacCentral Mosaic products now available to order

United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) today posted a special page on their Web site
(http://www.ucpnyc.org/maccentral/maccentralitems.cfm) for people
interested in supporting the MacCentral Mosaic Project 2002. There are
three separate products available to order from UCP's Web site: The Mosaic
poster; postcards; and a CD.

The Mosaic poster is a 32 x 24-inch replica of the Mosaics that will be up
for auction when Macworld Conference & Expo opens next week. The posters
cost US$10.00 and are available from UCP's Web site.

The postcards are actually a set of 35 individual postcards, each
representing one of the 35 tiles in the Mosaic. A set of 35 postcards is
available for $15.00 per set.

Finally, the CDs, which also cost $10.00, contain a replica of the
MacCentral Mosaic Web site (http://mosaic.maccentral.com/). The Flash and
Director project is self-contained and cross-platform, so it will work on
both Macintosh and Windows-based PCs.

All proceeds from the sale of the posters, postcards, CDs and the auction
of the Mosaics at Macworld go to support United Cerebral Palsy. All of the
time and resources of the artists and many companies that did layout and
printed the products have all been donated to the MacCentral Mosaic Project.

"The grassroots effort behind this project from MacCentral forum members
has been incredible," said Colin Crawford CEO of Mac Publishing, publishers
of Macworld and MacCentral. "I encourage the whole Mac community to support
this worthy cause."

Organized by members of MacCentral's forums, the Mosaic grew from an idea
suggested a few months ago, to a full charity auction supporting United
Cerebral Palsy.

Thirty-five tiles in all, each artist contributed the artwork for one 4 x 4
inch tile -- the full size Mosaic measures 28 x 20 inches. None of the
artists involved in the project knew what any of the others were doing for
their tile. The artists would pass on 25 pixels of their finished tile to
the next person to give them a place to start, but that's all each other
knew about the others work.

Five of the Mosaics are traveling through the United States and Canada this
month to be signed by the individual artists. Artists as far away as New
Zealand and Spain that have participated in the project will digitally sign
the Mosaics when they arrive in New York later this week.

The silent auction will begin when the show floor opens at Macworld Expo on
July 17. Stop by the MacCentral Mosaic booth #1850 to make your bid and to
speak with some of the artists and representatives from United Cerebral
Palsy.

Due to the response we have received from the Mac community that will not
be attending Expo, but still wish to bid on the limited edition signed
Mosaic, two Mosaics will be reserved for online bidding. Like the silent
auction on the Expo show floor, a silent auction will be held online. You
can send your bids to mosaic@maccentral.com -- please include your full
name and a contact phone number so we can reach you to verify your bid.

The highest bids for the online Mosaic auction will be posted throughout
the week, beginning July 15. The high bid will include the current high bid
and the person's first initial and last name -- this way you will know if
the high bid is in fact yours.

More information on the Mosaic project can be found on Apple's Web site and
an earlier story on MacCentral
(http://maccentral.macworld.com/news/0207/01.mosaic.php).
