LightWork Design Announces the Release of LightWorks v5.5

High-Speed Photorealism: Developers Can Integrate Fast, Industry-Leading
Photorealistic Rendering in Just Four Days

CHICAGO (March 13, 2000) - LightWork Design, the worldwide leading supplier
of rendering engines for 3D design software applications, today announced
the shipment of the new release of its flagship product, LightWorks* v5.5.

LightWorks rendering technology is designed for direct integration into 3D
software applications, providing fast, leading-edge rendering for producing
photorealistic 3D images and animations. The newest release, LightWorks
v5.5, features a new Application Layer and enhanced performance.

By using the LightWorks Application Layer, developers can integrate
LightWorks into their product within four days. They get their product to
market faster with minimal use of in-house development resources --
resulting in a higher return on investment.

LightWork Design is showcasing this innovative new release this week at the
National Design Engineering Show (NDES), part of National Manufacturing
Week, McCormick Place, Chicago (North Pavilion, Hall B2, Booth #584).

Application Layer Provides Quick LightWorks Integration

The LightWorks Application Layer is a suite of high-level C and C++
modules, providing software developers with all they need to quickly build
and easily maintain their LightWorks-based products.

It includes a range of well-designed workflow styles, for developers to
provide productive and easy-to-use graphical user interfaces (GUIs). The
predefined user-interface element classes can be integrated instantly and
are highly customizable through function overriding. The developer also can
easily change the visual appearance of the user-interface elements, to
match the application's look-and-feel.
Material and Light Studio archives included with the LightWorks Application
Layer make it easy for users to create high-quality images. The
wide-ranging library of high-quality predefined materials gives users
instant material settings, which can be assigned to models using
drag-and-drop. Light Studios (predefined collections of lights) allow users
to easily select the lighting they require. The Light Studio library
contains a range of studios covering standard and specialized lighting
effects.

Performance Enhancements Reassert LightWorks Lead LightWorks v5.5 also
features performance enhancements in six major areas for up to four times
faster rendering -- reasserting the position of LightWorks as the
performance leader in the industry.

The LightWorks rendering engine is used in more than 70 software
applications worldwide, including products from Unigraphics Solutions,
Parametric Technology Corp., think3, Diehl Graphsoft, IMSI, Fukui Computer,
autodessys Inc., GESTEL and SolidWorks Corporation (a subsidiary of
Dassault Systmes).
