Pine Island Software releases the first browser-based Java ftp client using
the MacOS Runtime for Java - MRJ 2.x

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Jun 20, 2000 - Pine Island Software has started shipping
the production release of the new Browser-based Java ftp client -
SendFile.NET. Unlike many other Browser-based file transfer products,
SendFile.NET does NOT require ANY software components to reside on the
client's Macintosh desktop! This new ftp client has already been installed
at over 100 "early adapter" Beehive site license accounts (mostly printing
and prepress) with great success!

KEY FEATURES :

SendFile.NET has many of the same features as the other Beehive ftp forms
desktop clients:

* SendFile.NET has html forms support for order forms, job tickets etc.;
* SendFile.NET has built-in Beehive "On-the-Fly" file compression;
* SendFile.NET supports encrypted ftp site keys for login security;
* SendFile.NET can use the Beehive ftp manager to automate file and forms
post-processing tasks.

APPLICATIONS :

Pine Island Software been selling the Browser-based, Java ftp client,
SendFile.NET, primarily into 2 applications:

1) Printing, Prepress and Newspaper Advertising - SendFile.NET is the
perfect choice for sites that have customers that need to send forms and
files to them for processing but the customers don't want to download the
Beehive ftp forms desktop client. Jobs coming in from the SendFile.NET
Browser/Java client are handled automatically by the Beehive ftp manager,
exactly the same way as Beehive ftp forms desktop client jobs.

2) Specialty e-commerce applications and digital asset management systems -
Many applications that want to integrate a reliable file transfer product
with their web delivered system have chosen to license SendFile.NET. These
vendors now have an alternative to the older, unreliable browser
print/upload functions. The SendFile.NET file transfer status window also
removes the uncertainty the customer has about the browser file transfer.

Other customer applications include medical imaging, personal file backup,
and transaction batch processing.

BRIEF TECHNICAL OVERVIEW :

The SendFile.NET browser-based ftp client is comprised of three components:
1) a few special purpose web pages, 2) Javascript for application control,
and 3) a compact ftp Java applet. When a company subscribes to
SendFile.NET, they receive a unique URL link that launches SendFile.NET
with their custom form, ftp parameters and logo. All SendFile.NET clients
are launched from a centralized launch portal, maintained by Pine Island,
to the customer's browser. This centralized launch scheme ensures that
there is no complicated installation at the subscriber's web site..just
link the URL and you are ready to go!

The SendFile.NET ftp client Java applet also contains the Pine Island
streaming compression technology for ftp called "On-the-Fly". The
"On-The-Fly" compression technology is avalable in all Pine Island ftp
clients - Macintosh, Windows and now SendFile.NET (Browser/Java).
"On-the-Fly" offers file transfer time reductions of as much a 96% on some
graphics file transfers!

BROWSER REQUIREMENTS:

SendFile.NET requires Microsoft Explorer Mac Version 4.5 (or better) or
Netscape Navigator version 4.0 (or better, Mac or Windows). Macintosh
computers must be running MRJ 2.0.
