World's First Network Auditor Extends Support for Macs

Inventory audit products abound for the Windows platform and of
these, iInventory v5 is perhaps the most widely licensed. However,
the Mac community has a limited choice of fast full-detail audit
tools.

iInventory has not only redressed this imbalance, but has added more
Mac features to its newly released iInventory v6, now out on field
beta test. New Mac agents combined with homogenized reports across
Macs, Windows and Linux computers provide an encompassing and welcome
solution.

If you want to test the v6 beta please contact support@iinventory.com
for details and download information.

v6 already includes existing Mac OS 8/9 and OS X agents with improved
handling of extended characters which were introduced with v5.5.3. In
the next 1-2 months v6 will extend Mac support to include:

Collection of font information

OSX stealth audit ability

Detection of Mac computer name

Version 6 will also introduce support for the Microsoft SQL Server
database, as an alternative to Access.

Product overview:

Easily Maintain an Inventory of Your Hardware and Software

iInventory is a powerful application that makes it easy to maintain
an accurate hardware inventory and to monitor software license
compliance on all of your Windows, Macintosh and Linux PCs. Whether
you need to analyze your hardware and software prior to the
installation of a new operating system, provide system data to your
IT help desk, or report asset information to your management team,
iInventory can analyze every computer in your company and provide
critical data to your management team.

After installing iInventory on a single Windows PC you create small,
portable inventory agents that you can run on every computer
throughout the enterprise via email, LAN, WAN, login script,
Internet, intranet, or floppy disk. No software installation is
required on the target computers, which can be anywhere in the world.
The inventory data is imported from each machine, and stored in an
industry-standard Microsoft Access or SQL Server database. You can
then use iInventory's comprehensive reports, or the powerful Access
or SQL Server query and reporting functions.

In addition to collecting user-defined information such as department
name, location, and sticker ID, iInventory collects bios data, CPU
information, physical and logical drive data, device driver
descriptions, Windows environment variables, IO Port data, IP and IPX
information, NetBIOS and NT Services data, Network, NIC and operating
system information, and even user logins. Macintosh and Linux
inventories contain similar information.

The program also inventories all required files types, to detect
software and unapproved files such as music (.MP3) and movies (.AVI).
A substantial dictionary of 117,000+ entries is used to help identify
software, and is constantly updated by iInventory staff.

iInventory audits a typical Windows workstation in about 15 seconds.
Since the program works in the background and does not interfere with
users' work, inventorying a large network can be accomplished with a
minimum of disruption. Stealth auditing is possible if you wish users
to be unaware of an audit. With its low cost, easy learning curve,
and non-intrusive design, iInventory lets you manage all of your
enterprise's PCs, Macs and Linux computers. You can evaluate the
speed and efficiency of iInventory on your Windows PC online, for
free, from the company's web site at www.iinventory.com.

iInventory audits Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP, Macintosh OS8.1+, OS9
and OSX, SuSe, Mandrake and RedHat Linux. Pricing for iInventory
begins at $18.20(US) per seat for an 11 seat license reducing to
$2.07(US) per seat - and even less for an unlimited enterprise
license. One-time audit licenses are also available. In addition to
taking the online audit, you can download a free 10-node evaluation
version of iInventory.
