MACTECH MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF "GETTING STARTED" COLUMN
-- Dave Mark re-joins the magazine as columnist
-- World renowned Getting Started Column returns for novices

Westlake Village, CA -- October 16, 2002 -- MacTech Magazine is proud to
announce that it has brought back Dave Mark's "Getting Started" column.
Written by renowned book author and columnist, Dave's column will bring Mac
OS X,
Cocoa, Objective-C and more to those interested in getting started with
programming. The first installation of the column's return is in the
November 2002 issue. Readers should subscribe no later than October 22,
2002 to get this first issue.

For those that don't remember, Dave Mark penned MacTech's Getting Started
column for 7 years. Dave has an extensive background in Macintosh and Unix
development and has written more than a dozen best-selling books, including
"Learn C on the Macintosh" and the "Macintosh C Programming Primer". He was
Vice President, Academic and Discover Products, at Metrowerks, and has
served on a number of Board of Directors, giving him tremendous experience
to draw from.

"Dave not only has an incredible grasp of what it takes to create a Getting
Started column, but he understands the approach to take that make the column
interesting even for those at a higher level." says Neil Ticktin, Publisher
of MacTech Magazine. "An icon in the community, a long time supporter of the
magazine, and a man with an insight on how to explain things -- we welcome
Dave and the Getting Started column back with open arms."

"I am very excited to be returning to the fold here at MacTech", said Dave
Mark. "We've put together what I think is a pretty good roadmap for the
Getting Started column. The first issue will lay the groundwork for folks,
and shouldn't be missed."
