Floydada High School named Apple Distinguished School

For 2007-08, only 18 schools across the U.S. were selected as Apple Distinguished Schools. Floydada High School was the only school from Texas chosen, reports MyPlainView.com.

"Our laptop initiative has improved our approach to teaching and learning, and it has changed the motivation of students to learn,” FHS Principal Wayne Morren told the publication. “We are making education more exciting for our students. Most importantly, it has created opportunities for students to successfully experience learning, to gain self-confidence and to become life-long learners.”

Apple representatives will present the Distinguished School Award to FISD and FHS at 7 p.m. Tuesday during the monthly board meeting.
